Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Restaurants, hotels and eateries are likely to be allowed to serve alcoholic beverages on their premises in the fourth phase of easing the COVID-19 lockdown under a proposal to go to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) tomorrow (June 12).
Alcoholic beverages will be allowed to be served at restaurants, hotels and eateries. However, the relaxation measure would still exclude pubs, bars and karaoke venues, which are considered to pose a greater danger of coronavirus disease transmission,

The proposal would also allow international and tutorial schools to reopen and government organisations to resume holding meetings and seminars.

Day care centres for children and elderly people could reopen, as could scientific centres for learning. Convention and exhibition centres would be permitted to open their doors again, but visitors must be at least one metre apart from each other.

Events would be allowed if visitors were seated at least one metre apart. Sports competitions could take place as long as there were no spectators, he said.

Concerts would be allowed on condition that audiences did not sing along exuberantly,

Asked by reporters if a ban on international flights into the country will be lifted in the 4th-stage relaxation, Gen Somsak said the ban will remain in effect until the end of this month. The government will then consider how to proceed, he said.

The game of cat and mouse continues as we hope for the 15th being the day we can visit our favourite restaurant for a plate of chips washed down with 10 pints of beer.
Steady on the chips mate, they are very fattening.

It sounds like area 3 is not actually ON the beach, but areas "around" the beach. Is that possibly lost in translation? Do they mean 'on' the Beach?

Area 4 is definitely the water.

where's that mouth dropping open emoticon? insert here if found.

perhaps they govt will start with 'contact tracer' jobs, beach nannies, merit/demerit checkers, and just maybe, a social credit scoring system! I wonder what lovable bunch of communist are behind all this crap. No, I don't wonder, just look northward to the horde.

think this isn't all planned out and engineered? why chase after a whimsical terror inducing disease that's was basically just another round of the flu? makes no sense at the heath and medical level. getting people to act, to accept acting in certain ways simply at the direction of the govt isn't easy. sort of like herding cats. but the flu scam provided the excuse, the reason.

I get really angry and bothered with this social engineering sh*t because I know where it's headed, and by the time the lemmings recognize what's happening it will be far too late.

Glad to see another poster who actually understands what is really motivating this, unfortunately most of the others are firm believers in the imaginary super killer virus, and it will be too late when they come to their senses.

I've got $50 that says.....wait gambling is illegal in Thailand. Special swimming areas or not, it won't take a month from the time this place reopens until some swimmer/diver is ripped up by a speedboat propeller in the swimming area.

Yes, here in Thailand, I'm waiting to see if
1. The sign-in and phone scanning disappears at stores as soon as COVID is under control.
2. Just the sign-in sheets disappear and the smart (stupid) phone scan in to get into any business becomes permanent Chinese style.
3. We all get sick and die.

While they still have the QR codes and lists on display, enforcement definitely seems to fizzle out already, as is the norm with any kind of crackdown in Thailand after 2-3 weeks. At least in my area of Bangkok, they don't bother to remind you to check in and out anymore. So it's pretty much up to you at this point.
