is also asked not to come out and splash water, as this activity could potentially be favorable to the spread of this disease.BANGKOK(NNT) - Each year in April, Thai people celebrate the Thai New Year or Songkran with world-famous water splashing events. This year however, many organizers have already cancelled their events to help reduce the risk of the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 spreading among crowds of revellers.
In Bangkok, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has announced the cancellation of the main Songkran events on Khaosan Road, Silom Road, and Ratchaprasong intersection to help minimize the infection risk.
Other events where people normally gather are also cancelled, including the procession of the Phra Buddha Sihing statue, alms giving ceremonies, and other recreational activities.
City Hall has also asked private companies to cancel their events, which are normally held every year at Asiatique shopping center, Central World shopping center, and Siam Paragon shopping center. The general public

Re: Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info
Regarding the health certificate, I'm flying out of BKK to London in 5 days. I just saw Thai Airways is requiring health certificates on some flights originating in certain countries. Even though outgoing flights from BKK are not currently affected, in an abundance of caution, I'd like to get the health certificate now, just in case It's needed. Does anyone know where I can get it in Bangkok? What the T8 form is and how to get that? Thanks.

On top of all the changes announced in the past few days for passengers arriving in Thailand, today the government has announced an additional measure. The Thai government has now cancelled the automatic granting of the visa-on-arrival for 18 countries as well as cancelling visa exemption for three other countries in additional efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
In the past, nationals of 18 countries or territories could use their passports or travel documents to apply for the visa-on-arrival at any Thai immigration checkpoints.
The 18 countries or territories include Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Taiwan, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Vanuatu.
Citizens of those countries will now have to get visas at their local Thai Embassy. You may also be asked to produce a health certificate to say you are free of #COVID19. Expect other nations to lose their visa exemption rights in the coming weeks. This is a clear signal that if you can, you should delay your holiday to Thailand or go and get a tourist visa now in anticipation that you might lose your visa exemption rights later.

two more down;
Chiang Mai Municipality yesterday announced the cancellation of all major activities for Thai New Year in the northern city, while the southern tourist city of Hat Yai in Songkhla province has also called off festivities.
FYI:
Thailand has reported 11 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of cases reported in the country to 70.
The 11 were part of a group of 15 who had been partying together in Thonglor, Bangkok between 27 and 29 Feb.
Health officials said the group became infected after they had been sharing a glass of drink and a cigarette while at the party.
One of the group had been in contact with someone from Hong Kong who has since left Thailand,

^ If this continues the few arriving tourists braving the current situation will arrive at the airport and be unable to change any money. I'd better be prudent and cash some £'s tomorrow, the exchange rate doesn't seem to going anywhere fast.

One day later and yet again they've just done a complete u-turn on the above announcement. This military led government is demonstrating time after time it is completely unfit to run a country.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 5:18 pmOn top of all the changes announced in the past few days for passengers arriving in Thailand, today the government has announced an additional measure. Re: Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info
It depends on the branch, some offer lower rates, usually the ones in the prime locations. Same is true of Superrich 1965 (the orange branded ones). You can see the rates for each branch on their websites.yong wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 5:40 pmYes they give the best exchange ratesarmchairlawyer wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 4:15 pm I've never used these places to change money.
