This morning new orders were put in place with a statement from Chonburi provincial Public Relations confirming that “all businesses will reopen as of May 1, IF the situation does not worsen.”

The statement says that if the situation with Covid-19 continues to improve the current plan is to reopen businesses and get the tens of thousands of local residents to return to their “normal life”, an estimated 80 to 90% of the city hopefully getting back to work as usual.

In the announcement below it states that all restaurants will reopen for people to dine, all massage shops will reopen, fitness centres will reopen, all hotels can reopen, all markets will be open along with all public areas and open all shops in all areas.

It is likely that it will take months until international travel returns, however, opening on at least a local scale is a first step to take to get some people back on their feet.

This order, of course, is subject to change based on the overall emergency decree that remains in place and the overall Covid-19 situation in Thailand. Meanwhile, Udon and Phuket have also stated in the past 24 hours they are also looking at May 1 as a reopening date

it will still take at least 6 months,(if not more) till tourism can even think about restarting

3 days into Phuket lockdown and its boring as hell. Doesn't help my bicycle got a flat and cant buy a inner tube ;-(

Probably a once in a lifetime chance to enjoy a quiet but functioning Pattaya again. There are enough resident expats to help support many hospitality/service business and employment but only a fraction of the number with tourists. I'd like to see common sense continue with reopenings, given the lack of likely customers around hopefully social distancing can be maintained naturally.

At this stage I'd take being able to buy a carry out for starters, then a restaurant for a meal and a beer, and then finally bars opening again.
