Thailand Travel Restrictions and Info

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Sometimes I think Thailand's efforts to encourage social distancing, staying home, restricting city travel are paying off. Once a week I go shopping at Foodland or Villa (less so). The BTS Skytrain and MRT subway are almost empty. Locals are careful to keep their distance in the carriages, and in malls and lineups. 95% of locals wear masks.

Then Thai immigration gets into the act, against all edicts and public service announcements, and forces foreigners into compromising exposure by making them line up by the hundreds. One report by blogger Richard Barrow yesterday said nine separate documents are required to get a CV19 extension for 30 days, including point 10, you must take the house owner with you to Immigration!. Un-freakin-believable!

This was Asok BTS station around 1:30 pm yesterday. Third photo is train eastward and southward along Sukhumvit to the terminal at Keha

well, seems Pattaya is the next to fall under the virus shut down blues

The new measures include…
Each district sets up its own taskforce to ensure compliance with the regulations
Hotels and places that resemble hotels are to close down and employees are to stay at the hotels and not leave Chon Buri. Hotels that still have guests have three days to decide whether to close down or stay open.
Pattaya will be sealed off. No one will be allowed to go in or out. Checkpoints will decide on special cases.
All beaches in Chon Buri are closed to any social gathering. Swimming is still allowed.
Petrol stations are to close between 10pm and 5am.
Some markets are ordered to close.
People are asked to observe an 11pm to 5 am curfew (This appears to be superseded by the national curfew announced last night, which is effective as of today).
Certain, unspecified “commercial businesses” are ordered closed.
There are to be no assemblies at reservoirs.
Hairdressers and barbers can remain open for haircutting only. All tattooists and nail salons are to shut.

The nation wide curfew is 9 pm-4 am

This seems very problematic if your hotel decides to close.

I don't understand why beaches are closed same as in Australia I mean there's plenty of room on a beach for social distancing, can you catch the virus from swimming?
I'm standing up, so I must be straight.
