Quarantine prices guarantee you'd have no cash left to buy a beer, win win.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 9:14 pmTwo weeks locked up with no alcohol could be a winner for AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) special holidays to Thailand. Re: Thailand sold itself as a pardise during covid> NOBODY came LOL
I feel I am treated like a real dog here now, somehow they dont want us anymore and/or blame it on us (economy I also had 2 very bad encounters in 2 expensive hospitals here (big city), last week, couldn't pee for 7 hrs, unbearable pain, went to hospital they gave me a Catheder (pee outside in a sack) , but they put it the wrong way! One day later i nearly died 0f Kidney insufficiency! Went to another expensive hospital and they took care a little bit beter.
My 10 year neighbours (They Tambun every morning!) saw me lying on the ground in front of my house, NOT helping me at all. After half hour they called my house-owner and he brought me to the hospital. Unfortunately my last 2 friends went back 3 months ago, and I do not have any contact to chicks, makes no sense anyway, so I am freaking alone now, which is not a
problem normally but in that case it was a big problem! what could I do, couldn't phone emergency, was too much strong out/sick!
I really have enough now, I sell my car and my stuff and go back to europe asap.Have to check my health also, but I dont expect to stay there long time. ..... I am so pissed and angry!
If possible I hit back to KOW where I stayed three years from 2005 to 2008!
Like the idea of going to Mexico, Costa Rica too......
Take care out there!

You take care of yourself too. Sounds like your time is up in Thailand.alexvanlaar wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 11:00 pm I feel I am treated like a real dog here now, somehow they dont want us anymore and/or blame it on us (economy I also had 2 very bad encounters in 2 expensive hospitals here (big city), last week, couldn't pee for 7 hrs, unbearable pain, went to hospital they gave me a Catheder (pee outside in a sack) , but they put it the wrong way! Mexico is very nice (from my limited knowledge) and if you get down as far as Colombia their health service is ranked #22 in the world, which is a very important factor for older expats. I would wait a while though, they are all going through hell with Covid-19.

Re: Thailand sold itself as a pardise during covid> NOBODY came LOL
whats all this concern about no beer for 2 weeks?
Everyone here cant live without beer?
Guess i am in the minority, i drink less than 10 beers /YEAR
If i didn't live in se asia, i'd choose mexico
wonderful country, great food, welcoming people, great beaches, cool cites, good value
Spent lots of time there in the 70's
PLUS easy, quick access to the states
just stay away from the cartel areas

Re: Thailand sold itself as a pardise during covid> NOBODY came LOL
I don't drink for a month when I visit the UK because I spend quality time with my mother as opposed to going out to the pub.. The difference here is the climate, outdoor lifestyle and a social life, nothing better than stopping off for an open air ice cold beer and a chat after a beach walk, especially if you live alone. I regard it as healthy not some sort of a problem.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 8:52 am whats all this concern about no beer for 2 weeks?

What do you drink when you socialise ? Part of the non alcohol issue I have is finding a satisfying alternative to a beer, soda water is tasteless and cokes etc don't seem a healthy alternative.

Re: Thailand sold itself as a pardise during covid> NOBODY came LOL
It's not about the beer so much as it is about enjoying the social life and a good chinwag. My friends have discussions, laughs and exchange perspectives on the ever changing (declining) status of expats in Thailand. Of course, it used to be the other way round, when expat life was so full of promise and unfettered joy of living in Thailand. Now the negatives are piling up. I could go on but that's another thread. Even I have given some consideration to South America and Mexico. An old university friend just moved to Aijicic, Mexico in October.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 8:52 am whats all this concern about no beer for 2 weeks?

Re Cowshed Cowboy's remarks, there really are no alternatives to beer because almost everything has heavy sugar content. And I get enough coffee at home.

I socialize at friends homes, my daily beach walks or at dinner, never at a bar..Cowshed Cowboy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 11:07 amI don't drink for a month when I visit the UK because I spend quality time with my mother as opposed to going out to the pub.. I love soda and fresh lime, very healthy alternative to an alcoholic drink

Anyway I always prefer KOW, but I'll wait and see first!
