Once I can get my vaccine (maybe July) I am headed that way too...sigmoid wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:45 am There still seems to be a major lack of awareness that a significant number of countries around the world are currently open with no or limited restrictions and have been for months.
For example, a friend of mine who really wanted to return to SE Asia during the Fall/Winter is now in Mexico and heading down to Costa Rica. A lot of countries throughout the tropics seem to be accessible. As a result, a global competition has arisen and people who want to travel are naturally going to at least consider the countries without quarantine first.

Is it worth the risk considering the potential side effects, including death?Doc67 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:52 amOnce I can get my vaccine (maybe July) I am headed that way too...sigmoid wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:45 am There still seems to be a major lack of awareness that a significant number of countries around the world are currently open with no or limited restrictions and have been for months.

Norway expressed increasing concern about the safety of the Pfizer Inc. vaccine on elderly people with serious underlying health conditions after raising an estimate of the number who died after receiving inoculations to 29.sigmoid wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 9:15 amIs it worth the risk considering the potential side effects, including death?Doc67 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:52 amOnce I can get my vaccine (maybe July) I am headed that way too...sigmoid wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:45 am There still seems to be a major lack of awareness that a significant number of countries around the world are currently open with no or limited restrictions and have been for months.

Yes, it is.
Very old people with serious underlying health conditions die from falling over. Covid-19 would almost certainly kill them. And a few are not even healthy enough to take a vaccine shot - 29 at last count.

If you were worried about the risk of potential side effects of a vaccine you're probably more at home in Torquay than Tijuana.sigmoid wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 9:15 amIs it worth the risk considering the potential side effects, including death?Doc67 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:52 amOnce I can get my vaccine (maybe July) I am headed that way too...sigmoid wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:45 am There still seems to be a major lack of awareness that a significant number of countries around the world are currently open with no or limited restrictions and have been for months.

https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/thailand-so ... -1.1549383It’s hard to imagine a more luxurious place to spend two weeks of quarantine than the Anantara Phuket Suites & Villas in Thailand, where visitors are pampered in private residences that can have their own pool and courtyard.
Yet more than three months after the resort and more than a hundred like it reopened to extended-stay travelers in an attempt to revive Thailand’s battered economy, foreign arrivals have failed to meet even rock-bottom expectations. Just 346 overseas visitors have entered the country on average each month on special visas since October, according to the Thailand Longstay Company, which helps facilitate the program. That’s well below the government’s target of about 1,200 and a tiny fraction of the more than 3 million who came before the pandemic.
Like i have repeatedly said
UNTIL 15 day quarantine on arrival is lifted.. * everywhere*
Tourism is on hold
Tourism is dead

I would have been prepared to do the quarantine in Thailand but with the lack of flights to/from Australia and more hotel quarantine in Australia on return its a complete non starter for me. Probably worth it for stays of 6 months or longer.

Did they (Thai gov't) seriously think people were gonna do 2 weeks in a quarantine hotel, & call that their vacation?!

There are lots of people that come to Thailand and spend 3-4 months each year, 2 weeks in a nice hotel/resort is not overkill.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Two weeks locked up with no alcohol could be a winner for AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) special holidays to Thailand. Niche market ?phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 8:41 pmThere are lots of people that come to Thailand and spend 3-4 months each year, 2 weeks in a nice hotel/resort is not overkill.
