Thai PM Threatens To Execute Reporters & He's Not Joking
Not all of them, only those who "cause conflict"......... "Some Thai journalists have reacted with alarm, noting that during the 23-minute news conference at an air force airfield prior to his departure for Brunei, Prayuth looked tense, his voice frequently quivered with anger and he threw a document at reporters" LINK: http://www.thailandnews.net/index.php/sid/231411809 LINK 2: http://www.thailandnews.net/index.php/sid/231411809

Loved the quote in the article from a Thai journalist. " As dictators go, Prayuth combines the instincts of Papa Doc Duvalier with the comic charm of Idi Amin " Jonathan Head " This is just bluff soldier's humour, He's so unworldly he doesn't see how inappropriate it is ".
I read an interesting opinion piece in the Bangkok Post by a reporter who got an interview with him on the bullet train in Japan during his overseas trip, and his view was that privately the General is genuinely frustrated at the many ills that he sees affecting thai society at large but of course he's getting criticised at every turn because of the nature of the regime. Maybe this is partly why he loses it regularly with reporters, nobody is buying his fake happiness/don't criticise us approach for the good of the country, and the fact as an Army General he's instinctively used to ordering people about and expecting them to obey as a matter of course.
That and his falling viewing numbers.
I'm still trying to work out what he's actually achieved for the country so far that doesn't involve clamping down on civil liberties or targeting individuals connected to the Shinawatra dynasty in the name of a graft clean up. Mere window dressing for the Royal succession and protection of the old elite/establishment order.

You're completely dismissing the effect that the banning of under-boob selfies will do to coalesce a previously fractured society ;P BTW, I was just in Pattaya visiting friends and they had just built a huge, fancy, $10/drink, bar-restaurant 'Fflic Cliff Beach Club' on park land at Cosy Beach in Pratumnak. So much for anti-corruption ! TIT - I asked them where they got their name and they said "it's cliff spelling backwards" and I said "no it isn't". Whoops !
