Thai Police Ban British Journalist's Book 4 Defaming Royals

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

They also stopped the screening of the latest Hunger Games movie (which was only released a week or two ago ) because there were groups of people assembled outside some Bangkok cinemas using the same hand gesture as they do in the movie as defiance of the authorities. :? In fact I see huge parallels between the movie and what is now happening in Thailand.

get ur fact straight;
they stopped the screening at ONE theater in Bangkok ( i saw it last week here in Phuket) and 3 people were arrested and later released.

The reason they arrested them is they had 3 students that stood up while the pm was given a speech and raised their 3 finger salute .
They may not be a perfect goverment BUT its a far cry from the one in the hungry games

It's YOU that needs to get your facts straight .

Do you have problems with comprehension?

One cinema chain in Thailand's capital canceled all screenings of the movie ahead of its Thursday opening “

And please provide a link to support your claim that the reason the three students were arrested was because they disrupted the Prime Minister's speech? Rubbish !!

In all media reports I have read they were doing nothing more than giving the three-finger salute outside a Bangkok cinema.

The Thai army has banned the three-finger salute altogether.

And you say they are not like the government in the movie

a goverment that represses its citizens so that the the rich can lead a life of Riley and also forces its citizens to choose combatants to fight to the death vs
what in Thailand???

Yes, freedom of expression and the press has been curtailed, but i have not yet seen any one killed here since this current military took power.

What on earth are you talking about? :?

I think you must have fallen asleep in the movie you went to see last week because combatants fighting to the death were in the first two movies.

This was just about the rich elite in the city finally showing their true colours and being prepared to even bomb hospitals to stop the uprising. Actually you are the first person I have come across who has failed to see the obvious symbolism.

“ The central figure in "The Hunger Games," the hit sci-fi series about an oppressed people's struggle against a totalitarian regime, is being evoked for real, now, in Thailand among university students expressing their opposition to that southeast Asian nation's military rulers. “ CNN
