A Chinese national on holiday ignored a warning sign advising against driving on the beach and subsequently ended up getting his car stuck in the sand at Kamala Beach in Phuket province.

The Immigration Bureau revoked the visa of the Swiss man involved in the physical assault on a female Thai doctor near Yamu Cape in Phuket last week.

The spokesperson added that Fehr would be detained at the Phuket Provincial Immigration Office for the physical assault charge but he could apply for bail to fight the case until it is finalised.

The Region 8 Police told the Phuket Express that on Tuesday (March 5th) they arrested two Russian women who were identified only as Miss Anna, 18, and Miss Olga, 23, in a room at a hotel on the Phra Metta Road in Patong.

The arrest came after police operated a sting operation after they received a tip off from a concerned citizen that there were Russian prostitutes working illegally in Patong. The two Russian women advertised themselves on an undisclosed website.

The two Russian women communicated with an undercover police officer via the WhatsApp application. They agreed on a price of 14,000 baht each for their services and made an appointment at an unidentified hotel where they were eventually arrested.

They were taken to the Patong Police Station to face charges of prostitution and advertising for prostitution, as well as working illegally. They are also likely to be deported.

Officers from the Provincial Police Region 8 yesterday continued the recent crackdown on illegal foreigners by charging two Russian men for working at a car rental shop in the Cherng Talay sub-district in the Talang district of Phuket province. The Russian business owner also faced a charge for hiring foreigners without work permits.

The investigation is on the back of locals in Phuket calling on the authorities to investigate the elephant sanctuary of a Swiss man, Urs Fehr, who physically assaulted a Thai doctor near the Yamu Cape. They also urged authorities to investigate all foreigners in the province and their businesses.
