Suspected Australian bikie members arrested in major Thailand 'drug cartel' sting
By Luke Cooper
Nov 29,
Authorities seized 1.229kg of a drug alleged to be ice, multiple guns, six mobile phones, 12 debit cards spanning seven bank accounts, 12 cash tablets and a gray Toyota Vios sedan
Two Australian men are among several people arrested in Thailand during a police drug raid in which more than a kilogram of ice, guns and a car were seized.
Local police descended on a home in Pattaya about 5.30pm yesterday pursuing what they have alleged is a network of drug dealers suspected of selling drugs to foreign tourists.
During the sting, Australians Jamie Robert Hansom, 46, and Steven Brett Hovi, 58, were arrested by heavily armed officers, along with Nigerian man Chimezie Stanley Duru, 38, and Thai nationals Jiraporn Kiatsutthachit, 35, and Wirapha Ungsri, 34.
Police also alleged to 9News Asia Correspondent Renae Henry that the arrested individuals are suspected bikies who were in the possession of the drugs and attempted to sell them illegally to tourists.
It is believed they may be part of a global network connected to the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang, according to local reports.
Thai police have since described the arrests as a significant move against what they believe could be a global drug cartel.

A few more details from one of their home town papers
WA bikie could face death penalty in Thailand after drugs allegedly found 'in fridge and candle'
The man was arrested after police seized thousands of dollars worth of drugs, including $90,000 of ice in raids.
One kilogram of the drug was discovered in a backpack in his car, it's alleged.
Detectives say they found even more hidden in a fridge and a candle during a raid at the man's home.
A Nigerian national was also arrested after trying to escape off a balcony.
Officers say he has links to the West African Mafia operating out of Bangkok.
Police believe the Nigerian national was pretending to be a taxi driver and supplying the drugs in bulk for the bikie to onsell.
Thai police kept the bikie under surveillance after receiving a tip-off, even putting a GPS tracker on his car.
Then they patiently waited for the right time to pounce.
It's believed the drugs were destined to be sold locally in Thailand and smuggled to other countries, including Australia.
If convicted, he could spend the next 25 years there, or even be sentenced to death. Pregnant woman goes to bed with 'migraine', wakes up to discover she's given birth to twins. In !992 I played the Gypsy Jokers clubhouse in Perth. We as a band made the decision never to play bikers clubs again as we were promised $1200 for the gig and got $500. We thought about tearing the place apart, but, well, you know...SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 5:36 amAll free - in PerthMishmash wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 5:08 amI want the thrills - how much Stern??SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 4:59 am Pregnant woman goes to bed with 'migraine', wakes up to discover she's given birth to twins. Years ago I was mowing my grandfathers lawn. I decided to put the speakers outside and mow to the sound of Metallica Black Album at full blast.Kung-fu Hillbilly wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 5:56 amIn !992 I played the Gypsy Jokers clubhouse in Perth. As a result I got invited to the bikers do.
On stage I had a competition for drinking - Newcastle Brown Ale - against the biggest meanest fattest bikers I ever saw - as you can guess Mish won!!
So I sat down and my prize was a bottle of whiskey - yes Mish went to the toilet and puked.
Butttttt... I met my third wife.
As an aside - i used to think that a stripe for a lady on the rag was a big thing - since i turned 16 I saw their standards were low,
Scuse Mish but I saw a bikie gang hangout here and they threatened me for no reason even when I bought them beer all night. I'm here and they are not!!
Nahhh. Bring the nappies
