Something smells fishy...(Update - police close venue)

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

...I hope it's just the raw seafood. She better hope somebody doesn't drop a dollop of wasabi on her wahoo. But then again, maybe she likes it roughy.
Pattaya “Naked Sushi” Restaurant makes national news headlines

A Naked Sushi Restaurant based in Pattaya is the talk of Thailand at the moment for all the wrong reasons.
The “Tokyo Kids” Restaurant is located in Soi Khopia in South Pattaya and made national news headlines on Wednesday when details of the naked sushi service were circulated on social media, which was then picked-up by National News outlets who have been less than complimentary about the service they offer.

Comments in the Thai media and on Social Media Channels suggest Naked Sushi is degrading to women and portrays them as sex objects and also creates a bad image of Thailand to foreign tourists.

Many past patrons of the restaurant would likely disagree with these comments, however there is now pressure on the local authorities to investigate the restaurant which is likely to occur in the near future.

This is not new, very Japanese - and may include boiled eggs that are 'intimately' rewarmed.

Unrelated, looks like someone is paying homage to 'the dickhead formerly known as Prince'.

Well that didn't take long. Looks like the Aussie owner will be losing his investment.

In other news, there will be at least one experienced naked sushi servant woman looking for a new job, if you were looking to hire.
Police seek arrest of Australian owner of South Pattaya “Naked Sushi” Restaurant

On Thursday afternoon, and in response to complaints via social media regarding a “Naked Sushi” Restaurant in South Pattaya, over 50 officials from various Police Divisions and Government Departments, conducted a raid on the venue.
The raid was led by the Pattaya Police Chief, who was joined by officials from the Banglamung District Licensing Unit, The Army, Pattaya Tourist Police, and Chonburi Immigration.

When the group arrived, the Restaurant was not open but the Manager, Khun Apichart aged 38, was inside and permitted entry to the officers who conducted an inspection of the Restaurant. They were particularly interested in speaking with the owner, who the Manager stated was an Australian called “Jason” aged 60, and the semi-naked woman in the publicity photos for the restaurant which were posted online. Neither were present and the Manager told Police that “Jason” had earlier called to him and advised him not to open the Restaurant as he expected some form of inspection or raid by the authorities.

The Manager revealed the Restaurant, Toyko Kids, was opened 4 years ago and cateres mostly for Asian customers who would be charged up to 5,000 Baht per person and the daily income was between 10,000 and 20,000 Baht per day.

Licensing checks revealed irregularities including no apparent license to sell Alcohol. Officials took till receipts from the night before and a copy of security camera footage from the night as evidence. Police are still looking for the owner and Naked Sushi worker who remain at-large for now.

"They were particularly interested in speaking with the owner, who the Manager stated was an Australian called “Jason” aged 60, and the semi-naked woman in the publicity photos for the restaurant which were posted online."

I hope "Jason" has the sense and money to flee the country. As for the "semi-naked woman" I saw her on Walking Street a couple nights ago, and not "semi" naked. As degrading as that appears, it is nothing compared to what goes on in several GoGo's with spankings, bananas, ice cubes, and farang tongues and other body parts. I frankly don't see what the big deal was. The sushi appears to be on banana leaves, not on her body itself. Once again, the prices being paid "5000baht" make the obvious connection of said venue and the police.

If you want to see corruption big time, and risk your life, raid "Big Eye" in north Pattaya. Filled with Chinese tourists nightly marketed as a "sex show". Public price is 1500baht for a 45min "show". A lot of money flowing through that venue but if you were to make trouble, who knows?
