Sharky vs. Thai Police

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

It's all about building an image, Pattaya wise I think a lot of it is bullshit to be honest but entertaining bullshit at least. I'd probably miss him as much as the Glitterman cyclist, not sure which of them craved the limelight more. :D

He went back to England don't know whether he took his bike with him, that would have been costly excess baggage.

ahhhh

poor Glitterman ... he must have been blackmailed or some crazy shit happened, classic Pattaya.

actually it's not terribly expensive to take bicycles in airplane, i think you can do it with 100-200$ from BKK to London, they call it "extra slarge baggage" or whatever, i've seen people coming at the check-in with surf boards and mountain bikes.

I don't think is was anything as exciting as that Drifter, I think it might have been something as simple as finances. He didn't look that old and certainly didn't live the high life, perhaps the strengthening baht just squeezed him out.

CC..if I may ask...how did you manage to set yourself up so well financially to retire to Thailand at your age? You must be doing something right.

That's debatable Soi Dog, but being a finance guy single and not paying UK tax helps :D I didn't retire to Thailand, it's been my home base as a working expat in different overseas locations for the last 16 years. Taking a break at the moment trying to decide what to do next. Mid-life reassessment of what's important now. I like my independence so whenever I get itchy feet I can try somewhere different, which is why I'll spend most of this year in Cambodia as opposed to Pattaya. I'm finding Pattaya a bit too developed and busy for me to be there all the time now. I prefer the quiet life, my rabble rousing days are over.

Don't know where my mate is getting his Sharkey updates from but he just sent the latest that he met with some police chief and the one in charge of the raid, and has agreed to stay silent until something is sorted out.

sharkey knows how to talk to as well as Jake Lances friend) all will be sorted, its just $$$$$$$

MY friend here got out yesterday after he paid up after 10 months in jail but now is siting in immigration jail cause everyday he arranges the baht they ask for they ask for more
They need him to pay for airfare to bangkok for him an immigration offical,( he needs get new passport as well as his expired while he was inside and even thou he was on a 12 month overstay they only charged him 1,000 baht )
air fare back to Oz
hotel and spending money for the immigration guy

than at the last moment they asked for another 10,000 ( with no receipt)
fuckers.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
