Security guards attack British tourists, Khao San Rd.(VIDEO)

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

im similar, in the sense, im not one to verbally joust with someone, tbh i dont like confrontations,
im likely to just soak it all up, and bite my tongue, but if someones goes too far/oversteps the mark/pissed me off enough im not going to stand there and talk about getting into a fight, they are going to get what they deserve, i wouldnt feel bad for it either because of my high tolerance, 9.5 times out of 10 they deserved it,
because of my sport i cant go round beating people up, and i dont go round shouting my mouth off either, stay humble :thumb:

OK. This one is an accident, not a beating or murder, but again I just do not recall hearing about these kinds of incidents happening on an almost daily basis in other countries, whereas with Thailand it seems like it's just tragedy after tragedy, on and on.

I guess when you have 60,000 tourists or so arriving monthly (on average, according to the TAT), statistically, the murders, beatings, bombings, and accidents naturally increase.

It may be "safe enough", but it seems like you're more likely to survive and avoid injury in other countries, even Cambodia.

i guess its hard to tell really, you only hear what the media choose to spill out, do you think they still would have run the story if the woman handnt of worked for Goldman Sachs?? But its true what you say, you dont really hear much regarding other countries, or tourists in the UK, probably happens, but the british media wont publish it

The tuk tuk death happened back in Dec 2015, but getting up & changing seats in a moving vehicle with no sides on a twisty road, after you've been out drinking is probably not the wisest thing to do

The girl who drowned last week on Koh Chang ignored all the warning flags & was swimming in the sea, just 24hrs after another tourist had also drowned there. You would have thought it may have crossed her mind that it wasn't safe, but obviously it didn't.

Stupidity is responsible for a lot of deaths

Incidentally, there was a guy on a train in London about a week ago, who decided to look out the window to see why the train was slowing, & lost his head (and his life)

BANGKOK — Two guards working for a nightclub in a popular backpacker destination lost their jobs for kicking and beating two British men.

According to police, the two victims and their friends attempted to enter Brick Bar on Khaosan Road at around 3am Monday, but they were intoxicated and carrying beer bottles at the time, so the bouncers denied them entry.

Upon being refused entry, the four Britons went into a nearby restroom, where they allegedly splashed their beer on other customers, at which point the bouncers intervened, dragged two of the tourists into the street and assaulted them, said Tourist Police deputy chief Col. Nithithorn Chintakanon.http://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crim ... oad-video/

OK. So, we seem to have two plausible theories here.

1) Unintelligent people travel to Thailand and get injured or killed because they don't know any better. It's just a coincidence that many of them are British, or "Britons".

2) British people, or "Britons", in general aren't very intelligent and will get injured or killed wherever they may travel, domestically or internationally.

I'm going with Theory Number 1. Again, I don't see many British people biting the dust, or getting put in hospital in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, etc. A significant number of British people are intelligent. Their language and music are number 1 in the world, and their empire was the largest in history.

So, in summary, Thailand is an idiot-magnet. It's not really a dangerous country. It's just that a lot of cretins show up and get themselves in trouble. Expats who reside in and tourists who travel to other countries are genetically superior/better educated,

Survival of the fittest is the name of the game. Darwin himself was British (or should that be "Briton"), right?

So why are all the bellends Brits ? Why are all the street fights between Brits and Thais ? And what's Darwin got to do with it ?
