Security guards attack British tourists, Khao San Rd.(VIDEO)

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Pol Lt Pathipan Yeunthon of the Chanasongkram Police Station said that he was informed of the incident at 1am.
Something wrong if you can't go out after midnight in a night district.

However, all the "beatings" reported seem to be between Thais and Brits. Coincidence, or is it that the Brits like to scrap as much as the Thais ?

Other nationalities have gotten clobbered but it does indeed appear that the Poms are batting above average when it comes to getting their arses handed to them.

I got clobbered in Bangkok years ago for something that seemed very trivial at the time. I was drunk as hell, not far from Kao San, and it was about 2 AM (it was Xmas night). These guys on the corner of this fairly narrow street took my mate's cap off, maybe playing, or trying to provoke us. I muttered "What the fuck" and grabbed it back. We wandered along, and then a guy ran up and punched me in the head, he was wearing a ring and ripped my eyebrow open. I had to GTFO so got back to my guesthouse nearby. Another friend who had been a nurse was there, so I took a Xanax (for the 1st time) and got it stuck together quickly with plastic sutures. Some cops turned up then but I told them I wasn't interested in talking about it. Then a bunch of paramedics came along but I was sorted out by then. I had to admire how quickly those crews turned up, here you'd be better off flagging down a tuk-tuk.

Well if you call, 2 on to one guy already on the floor, one hitting him with a baton and the other repeatedly kicking him in the head best fighting then the rules are very wrong! More like fighting same retarded animals. It's lucky that bloke in white shorts came to rescue his mate or they would have probably killed him!
Have seen the same in UK though!
thais are the best fighters becoz they like to fight, dont mean they fight fair  , i hv never seen any other nationalities in ASEAN that is so ready to throw everything down on a whim and start brawling, mostly r just a lot of gesturing
yep no rules in a street fight,
thats why theres a difference between martial arts/boxing and fighting,
although depending on the situation a good fighter shouldnt need to resort to dirty/naughty tactics, but whatever gets the job done,
you pick a fight, you need to be prepared to fight, even in boxing when there is rules they say "protect yourself at all times"
example... Ortiz turned this boxing bout into a fight after an intentional headbutt...

By now, after all the beatings and murders in the past 10 years or so, you'd think people would just stay the fuck out of Thailand.

Undoubtedly, some will say "it could happen anywhere", which is theoretically true, but do you recall any news stories of tourists or expats getting whacked or put in the hospital from any other the neighboring countries?

Laos? Cambodia? Vietnam? Myanmar? Malaysia? Singapore? China? Try to find them.

OK, maybe it also happens in the Philippines?

Anyway, Thailand takes the cake and just proves that De-evolution is real.

Never ever having a problem myself, but read dozens of these type threads, I get the impression that although Westerners like to verbally joust with lots of swearing etc & that's often the end of it really, Thais just get straight down to physical assaults as soon as the language turns bad, & some times before

It's amazing, I wonder who they employ for PR? It seems that neither coups/ tanks on the streets/ bombs/ murders/ rapes/ human slavery etc can put anyone off holidaying there. That's good, because I wouldn't want to put anyone off the place, it's safe enough.
