Nigerian scammers get bolder

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Nigerian scammers get bolder

Post by Soi Dog » Thu Aug 28, 2014 11:23 pm

I was expecting to read about some foolish, love-sick farangs duped into sending sick buffalo money to their one and only tee-rak they met at some Pattaya bar. How these two managed to con a Taiwanese steel company is beyond me.

BANGKOK, Aug 28 -- Police from the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) arrested Nigerian Stanley Onyekwere and Thai Anchulee Siriwong at their rented room in Bangkok's Bueng Kum district as their gang had used emails to lure a Taiwanese steel company into transferring about Bt4.6 million baht to their bank accounts.

The suspects admitted to the fraud and identified many accomplices.

Police carried a court warrant to make the arrest and are hunting other accomplices.
