New visa for thailand >>can u quaify?
bet very very few can get this one>>> But makes good copy
https://www.phuketgazette.net/lifestyle ... tal-nomadsThe new Smart Visa might be a visa solution for some, but not all, of the ‘digital nomads’ that have been become ubiquitous in Thailand, from all over the world. Whereas the young professionals might have taken off around the world on a break between their schooling and the start of their professional careers, now they’re taking their professional careers along with them and logging in to their job remotely from some far flung cafe overlooking rice paddies in Chiang Mai for a beach in Phuket.
According to the scant information on the new Smart Visa, it will apply to a fairly narrow band of skill sets Thai authorities want to attract – IT, ‘tech’ industries, health. The visa has also been designed to allow investors to be able to work and live in the Kingdom. The precise list and aunts of investment required have not been made clear at this stage. According to the information we do have, applicants for the new Smart Visa will need to prove a monthly income of 200,000 baht per month, probably more than most digital nomads make.

My guess is Chris is sending other nomads to these tourist dumps so they don't show up where he is.

200,000 THb is about £4600. I doubt many nomads earn less. I was on that 10 years ago and I was employed, not contracting. contractors were £6000-10,000 depending on their level and speciality. Most of the IT nomads are meet are on around $6000-$8000 just doing websites. App developers can get $100+ an hour.

4 year professional visa starting soon
Expert expats with high salaries can apply for four-year professional visa starting in mid-January.
That’s when a long-awaited program offering visas that can be extended by four years at a time will be made available to foreigners earning 200,000 baht per month and up.
“More than any other type of visa, the Smart Visa will give the most benefits and privileges,” said Lt. Col. Thanarak Boonyaratkarin of the Immigration Bureau Police. “You will be able to stay for a long time and bring your family over.”
Starting in January, foreigners who meet the Smart Visa’s requirements can apply for them at Thai Embassies in their respective countries or the One-Stop Service Center for Visas and Work Permits at Chamchuri Square in Bangkok.
To be eligible for the Smart Visa, a foreigner must earn more than 200,000 baht a month in specialized industries such as tech, robotics, health care and more. The goal, Thanarak said, is to attract entrepreneurs and experts with technical know-how to stay in Thailand longer.
Instead of checking in with immigration every 90 days, Smart Visa holders only need to check in annually. They also are not required to obtain a work permit, according to a government website.
Smart Visa holders can be investors or entrepreneurs in said specialized industries to qualify for visas of two to four years, depending on their field.

Maybe someone in Thailand took their head out of their ass for a nanosecond.
If ever there was a population that would not stand for checking in with the suck ass mofo's immigration every 90 days, it would be digital nomads!

Re: New visa for thailand >>can u quaify?
digital Nomad? well doubt the new visa will apply to you LOL
https://www.phuketgazette.net/news/smar ... february-1The smart visa is divided into four groups. The first group is for specialists in scientific fields where there is a shortage. Individuals who qualify must have a salary of at least 200,000 baht a month and an employment contract for at least one year.
Their spouses and children can move and work in Thailand, except in prohibited careers. They will get four-year visas, up from the 90-day visa that is currently available.
The second group involves investors of no less than 20 million baht in targeted industries.
The third group involves investors in companies that in turn invest in targeted industries.
The fourth group is for company executives who work in targeted industries with salaries not less than 200,000 baht a month with experience of not less than 10 years.
The government estimated less than 1,000 people would apply for the smart visas so would not affect the local labour market, Kobsak said.

Re: New visa for thailand >>can u quaify?
If they reckon less than 1000 people will apply for it whats the point? Still think the bar is ridiculously low if they want to attract highly qualified people 200,000 a month?

What's newer in it than before?
