khaosan road street stalls cleared

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Yeah it is. Hopefully it's only temporary. Admittedly, they don't need 100 pad Thai stalls but removing everything will surely kill the atmosphere of the place.

Still remember the first time i ever came to Asia, had nothing pre-booked just rocked up at Bangkok with just a 30 litre rucksack, got a Taxi to Khao San Rd found a room for the night at some random guesthouse then went out to shock the senses

My Thai friends in Bangkok used to like drinking around there, some cool bars in some streets near by, not been for years now though, avoid Bangkok like the plague

The whole street is just shite and I think it's a wonderful idea to get rid of some of these stalls.
Does anybody really buy these terrible shirts, greasy pad thai or other junk.
Area around it is ok with some nice live music venues on phra artith and good restaurants.

Kindda strange, lived here 14 years now never been to Khaosan not even driven into it. Guess I missed the real Khaosan now that it had been cleansed.

Me and my pal stayed in the heart of the road 2 months ago for a long weekend to watch our team play football, on the piss streetside watching the circus. Really enjoyed the bar scene, very friendly and obviously totally commercialised from when i first went there 25 years ago. To be honest the pavement businesses didn't add anything unless you're fresh of the plane, however I thought the behaviour of the youngsters was pretty disgusting is a Siem Reap pub street kind of way. I nearly filled in 2 people and I'm a placid guy.
Yes sir, I can boogie, I can boogie, boogie, boogie all night long.
