Re: flight prices
what makes you think cause borders open, all of a sudden there going to be thousands /tens of thousands of people travelling?
Many in Europe and the states have been out of work for ages with little income.
Not exactly when something thinks of flying anywhere UNLESS they have it
And what about if another outbreak occurs and you get stuck somewhere?
I personally think flights will be cheap for the first 6 months or so to get people back in the air

This is just from the UK, but here's a story on this from today, after BoJo announced his roadmap outta lockdown: https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... asyjet-tuiphuketrichard wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 8:21 pmwhat makes you think cause borders open, all of a sudden there going to be thousands /tens of thousands of people travelling?
A couple key quotes:
EasyJet said flight bookings from the UK jumped 337% and package holiday bookings surged 630% compared with a week earlier, with Malaga, Alicante and Palma in Spain, Faro in Portugal and the Greek island of Crete among the top destinations.
Thomas Cook said website traffic was up by 75% on Monday and bookings tripled from the day before. Turkey was the number one destination followed by Greece and Cyprus, but people also booked long haul to Dominican Republic and Mexico. The company said customers were also booking well into 2022. “Felt like the cork had popped on all that pent up demand for holidays,” a spokesperson said.

I'm sure BA will take your £500, but whether the flight you book actually departs is another thing entirely, and then you're in to the '£500 transferable coupon' that you can put towards the £800 flight departing a week or two later. I don't doubt that there will be an element of competition around pricing, but at the same time, it wouldn't be beyond the realms of belief that airlines may "work cooperatively" to maintain inflated prices for a while?? I certainly wouldn't put it past them.tightenupvolume1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 6:05 pm B A are selling tickets to Bombay right now for £500 to fly in September, I assume that once I have paid for it they can't up the price ? When India opens up and if B A decide to charge a £1000 return maybe Virgin will charge £800 and Air India £700 and so on. It's a gamble, I have emailed BA and asked if i can re arrange flights if the borders are still closed in September.
I am not 100% sure of the legal situation of me buying a ticket now and then BA saying just before the flight that it is not going but i am pretty sure that is a refund situation. There are all sorts of problems going on at the moment with the coupon thing, you don't have to accept a coupon.

You can pretty much fly anywhere in Europe for less than £100 returnphuketrichard wrote:what makes you think cause borders open, all of a sudden there going to be thousands /tens of thousands of people travelling?

Re: flight prices
I just had a look for a ticket to malaga with easyjet in June, once you add baggage, even a small bag and then take into account a cab to get to the airport for 5 45 am it adds up to more than a £100. There are cheap deals to Europe but right now to get anything under a £100 return with baggage in the next 3 months is doubtful

Re: flight prices
Flying to EU end of the week. Ticket was double price as it was before Covid. Was checking price almost daily last 6 moths., bought ticket 1 moths ago and checked today, almost same price, not more than 50$ difference in 6 months. For sure different dynamics in pricing.

Re: flight prices
Most airlines are giving favourable terms on rescheduling at the moment, worth checking what they are.

Re: flight prices
My daughter in law work's on the front line, being a Covid-19 nurse, but Friday just gone she started to suffer a little bronchitis. The doctor put her on sick leave because of the situation, being that she maybe high risk of catching the virus. But the payment the government paid for this has now been suspended, it was a government scheme that did stand front line workers down. Now she will receive sick pay that won't cover the rent.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 8:21 pmwhat makes you think cause borders open, all of a sudden there going to be thousands /tens of thousands of people travelling?

One of my son's has never stopped working with his driving/delivery work. The other son has his own business, and has been stopped many times from opening his shop due to the covid-19 and lockdown, without compansation.
Also should look at other workers, being paid not to go to work, or work from home, some have been paid well and now don't want to return to work.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
Re: flight prices
KLM, Emirates, Xiamen Airlines... But they all fucked me over, coupons can only be exchanged to tickets given out in the same name.tightenupvolume1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 6:06 pmcoupons from which airline ?Kammekor wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:51 pmI have a bunch of coupons for sale if you're interested.tightenupvolume1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 4:26 pm I just looked at the prices to India from UK in September which is when i usually go and they are the same as usual about £500 return. I then looked at flights to Thailand and they are around £700 return, not sure if this is the usual price. My gut feeling tells me that when India/Thailand/USA, anywhere really, opens up the prices will shoot up at first maybe they will double as I am sure they will still be able to sell the seats.
Anybody got any thoughts on this ?
No way I would take the risk of buying a 500-700 GBP ticket six months in advance at this time.
