Farang robs Thai money changers in Pattaya?

A bit of a "man bites dog" story for a change of pace. Although even the dumbest Thai criminal could probably muster the phrase "sit down" if that is all it takes to shift blame to a farang. Nice little score for the perp.

Foreigner wanted for armed robbery at Central Pattaya Money Exchange Booth

Pattaya Police are currently searching for a foreign man wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a Central Pattaya Money Exchange Booth which saw the suspect escape with 200,000 Baht.
The incident occurred on Sunday Night at the Rachata Money Exchange Booth in Soi 16 off Pattaya Third Road. The store is owned by the Cousin of the Deputy Mayor of Nongprue Municipality, who was visiting the store at the time. He was held at gunpoint for a time as the suspect, whose face was concealed by a safety helmet, entered the store and told everyone to “Sit Down” in English, which is when they knew the suspect was not Thai.

For a time, the owner of the booth resisted the gunman and attempted to fight with him but he was able to leave with 200,000 Baht.

Police have security camera footage of the incident and are now searching for the foreign suspect who remains at-large for now.

I would have updated the thread title, but it seems this site won't allow people to EDIT their own posts after a certain amount of time? If that's the case it is a recent change and not a good one.

The thief in question has been caught in Pattaya and has apparently confessed. Still had the money in his possession. Dumbass. He said he wanted to money to buy a ticket back to Ukraine.

Ukrainian “confesses” to Central Pattaya armed robbery

The Chonburi Provincial Police Commander confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that the Ukrainian suspect earlier arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Money Exchange Booth in Central Pattaya, confessed to the crime despite an earlier denial.
Mr. Ayder Bezaziyev aged 27, who worked as an illegal tour guide, claimed he conducted the armed robbery as he was desperate for money to pay back funds he had wrongly taken from his Tour Company. He planned to use the rest of the 200,000 Baht he is alleged to have stolen, to purchase a flight back to Ukraine.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the case a reconstruction of events during and after the robbery took place on Tuesday evening at three locations.

A re-creation of the armed robbery at the Money Exchange Store in Soi 16 off Pattaya Third Road took place and then the suspect was taken to an abandoned house in Soi Sukhumvit 52 in Jomtien where Police had earlier recovered 136,000 Baht hidden in a plastic bag inside the house and then the suspect was taken to a remote location in South Pattaya where a BB Gun, thought to have been used during the robbery, had been discarded.

Apart from the earlier minor class 5 drug charge, the suspect has now been charged with armed robbery and he awaits Court proceedings.
