Family of British Tourists Brutally Assaulted by Thais While on Holiday in Thailand (VIDEO)

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

From the Telegraph article :
The younger Mr Owen, also called Lewis, had reportedly bumped into one of his attackers, who were not known to him or his parents.
He has returned to Singapore, where he works as a graphic designer, and told reporters last week that neither he nor his parents would ever return to Thailand.
But according to the Daily News website, his parents said on Monday that they would be happy to return to Thailand, telling the reporters that the incident was committed by only four individuals and did not represent the Thai people.
Bold is what is important and i think their very positive on stating this, their assholes in every country
Well if you and Grinchy left, that would be two less.
I thankyou.:hattip:

Just because some weasling Thai officials say Thailand is cool doesn't mean that it is. Many people have stories to tell about Thailand that are not good. There are a few just above. I doubt if Bingham has got hit here?
I can 100% guarantee that you can go anywhere in the world and some people have a bad story to tell about it.

Just like you have endless stories about being cheated over the cost of a pineapple in Cambodia and yet, that doesn't make Cambodia a bad place to be either.

The power of the anecdote may be great in the human psyche but in the balance of evidence it counts for fuck all. The truth is that Thailand is neither an island of perfect safety in a dangerous world not is it a violent wasteland where tourists are slaughtered in their thousands for kicks. It's just a place, both good and bad. No more dangerous than Cambodia, more dangerous than Switzerland, much less dangerous than the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Cambodia is the worst place to be. If Asia is an arsehole, then Cambodia is 500 miles up it. The only reason I can see anybody that isn't from here staying here is if they have to or are too stupid to go. Full stop. Just like that list of why Cambodians find Barang weird and stupid I could give you a book on why no one should ever ever come here. It's not the country, it's the people. They are mental defectives all the way from the bottom (to be expected) to the top. Cambodian innovation? :plus1: :plus1: :plus1: :plus1:

I just don't think Asia is very progressive on any social fronts, and it never will be. I'm off soon and I won't be shedding any tears either. I have given 6+ years full time, and the more I know about SEA the more it depresses me.

Because I have to for the moment, just like yourself. But things change. The idea of staying through the next election? For me it's not going to happen.

you only think u have too.
unless your living day to day you can always leave, ( pity the poor Khmers who can't leave)
so at the end of the day obviously things are not as bad as you think the are.

Whenever i go there i am ready after 2-3 weeks to head away, Thailand may be backwards and and and but its still far ahead. :beer3:

If the wheat is your head, and the chaff your shoulders.
