English teacher held in Thailand after "HAND GEL" leak smudged passport

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

English teacher held in Thailand after "HAND GEL" leak smudged passport

Post by sigmoid »

The Daily Mail does it again with this touching tale of human interest at its best.

Tragedy is turned to everlasting friendship as another English teacher on holiday from their job in Vietnam winds up in trouble in LOS, but this time we can blame the Vietnamese at least.

With some great photos from the IDC, in case you've never been there and have always wondered what it's like.

IDC = Immigration Detention Center, so it's only for visa violations as Richard mentions. He's not actually in jail.

The IDC looks like a luxury hotel compared to the holding cells in KSR.

You mean the Chanasongkram Police Station on the corner of Khao San Road? Never seen the inside of that place, but again the IDC is just for holding those awaiting deportation that I guess haven't been arrested and/or charged with a crime, i.e. not awaiting trial. So, it's a different kind of place.

Actually, they almost seem to be having a bit of a party. May as well make the best of it.
