Death Island- Koh Tao

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Koh Tao has nothing on Kampot.
More deaths with a fraction of the western population.

Perhaps, but I don't recall hearing about any murders of foreigners in Kampot.

Most of the deaths seem to be elderly expats passing on followed unfortunately by motorbike crashes, possibly alcohol/drug-related deaths and the occasional suicide.

What have you heard?

I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

I heard that some people are disenfranchised and feel disconnected with life and therefore believe there are unknown hands running everyones lives. They are prone to believe any conspiracy theories as it gives them a reason to understand why they feel the way they do.

But to answer your question; if some of these deaths in Koh Tao were put down as suicides or alcohol related would you believe them?
Of course not.

anyone in kampot to have heard stories about an unsolved serial killer case there? Is it urban legend or maybe there are some links to articles? Story I heard was that foreign women on white bicycles would be the victims on the other side of the river from downtown. Supposedly a Belgian hostel owner was suspected but left the country without getting charged.
Probably better for kampot section.

There was one murder some 10 years ago. Hardly a serial killer. Police were quick to blame a barang but, released him after a year and a half as there was zero evidence towards him.

UK tourist, Theo Bailey died in mysterious and tragic circumstances. He attended the Koh Tao Pub Crawl with his longtime partner, Chantal Xerri on the evening of 18 March 2024 and his body was discovered outside the Roctopus Dive Shop at around 3.00 pm in the afternoon of 19 March 2024.

His death raises more questions than answers.

Several people have said that Koh Tao was dry at this time and that no water would have been in the drain where he was found. Therefore, the theory of drowning is implausible.

Others point out that the location of the body would have meant that people would have walked past and seen it throughout the morning and early afternoon if it had been there from the early morning.
