Death Island- Koh Tao

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Locals friendly. No issues.
It is certainly beautiful. I agree with that observation 100% BUT it can be deadly too! I often say that both Heaven and Hell can be found on Koh Tao and anyone who thinks otherwise is simply not paying attention. I am glad you enjoyed yourself and did not encounter any problems. You are one of the lucky ones. Others before you have been very unlucky!

to keep it in perspective 50,000 +die on the roads in Thailand/year
and more people die swimming around phuket island in 1 year than have died on Koh Tao :beer3:
and wont even compare it to motorcyle accidents on Phuket island
Koh Tao; SIX tourists in three years It is thought around 750,000 people visit the ...
I personally would feel much safer in Koh Tao than parts of some cities in the states.

I think the news papers /social media is over sensationalizing it

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

It's always good to keep things in perspective. Indeed, one should not overlook the numbers killed on Thailand's roads and the reckless behaviour of many Thai drivers and motorcyclists. There's a lack of responsibility when it comes to road use and there's also a lack of responsibility when it comes to investigating the deaths of tourist who contribute about 10% to Thailand's GDP.

British freelance journalist has spoken out via his Facebook account and has pointed his knowledgeable finger at the clan he says is responsible for the Koh Tao double murders.

All this just hours before the Supreme Court of Thailand is due to deliver its decision.

Thanks for pointing out the typo. I was getting ahead of myself. The correct date for the decision of the Supreme Court of Thailand is 29 AUGUST 2019.

This article has just been published by the Samui Times:

Yes. Terrible news.

The original decision was a 21st Century version of the Salem Witch Trials of centuries ago where bogus evidence from young girls was used to convict people of being witches, which resulted in the death penalty being carried out.

In those trials the evidence could not be tested.

The bogus DNA evidence could not be tested either!
