Autopsy shows dead Thai soldier had organs removed
Dead Thai soldier's missing organs shrouded in mystery
22 November 2017
The case of a Thai army cadet who died under mysterious circumstances and had his organs removed has left his family angry and with many questions. Phakhapong Tanyakan died on 17 October - and his family was told the cause of death was a sudden cardiac arrest.
Phakhapong Tanyakan was a first year student at the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School. When he suddenly died in October the army gave cardiac arrest as the cause of death.
But the family did not trust the official version - so when the body was transferred to them for the funeral they brought it for a second autopsy at a private clinic.
What the doctors found were severe bruise marks, several broken ribs and broken collarbones - and the brain, heart, stomach and bladder had been removed from the body...

Army block civilian inquiry into death of young cadet
A defense ministry spokesman said Friday that an independent inquiry into the death of a 19-year-old military cadet is not necessary as the armed forces is already in charge of the matter.
Pakapong, whose body was initially returned to his family with vital organs missing, died during training in October. Organs were returned to his family on Thursday after outraged responses to the military’s dismissive response to the family’s suspicions.
The remains are being tested to verify they came from Pakapong at the Central Institute of Forensic Science, which will conduct further forensic examination to determine his cause of death. The institute is independent of the military and police.
The military maintained Pakapong, who was enrolled at the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School, died of sudden heart failure. His family suspects a more sinister cause, as his body was returned with bruises and broken ribs.
Pakapong’s death drew wide attention not only because he was the latest young man to die under suspicious circumstances in military training, but also because his family discovered that his cadaver was missing several internal organs. They only realized the gruesome fact after suspicions led them to take the body in secret to a private hospital for examination.

- During a press conference held yesterday in Chon Buri province, the parents and sister of Phakhapong shared the preliminary findings from an autopsy they had conducted after the military one.
In the second autopsy report, the mother of the cadet said that a doctor had told her that the internal bleeding patterns in her son’s spleen and liver suggested that he had not died from a cardiac arrest, but had succumbed to the injuries from what looked like being hit by a hard object.
The military claimed that the injuries that appeared in the autopsy report were the result of attempting CPR on the boy, but the second autopsy report that the family had requested indicated otherwise.
The Nation has reported that the family has grown suspicious that corporal punishment and the school’s culture of hazing may have been at play with their son’s death.
“Prior to his death, my son had just recovered from an illness. The people at the school were heartless to him,” the Nation reported the cadet’s mother, Sukalya Tanyakan, as saying during the press conference.

There's no need to sugar coat it. Life is cheap in the so-called "Land of Smiles". If you're a foreigner you are scrutinized often for doing the slightest thing that might be considered "offensive" but if you're a Thai then you can get away with literally anything- especially if daddy is a high ranking cop or military man.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2017 11:42 am 28 November 2017

FAMILY DISREGARDS REPORT THAT SAYS MEAY’S DEATH NOT CAUSED BY PUNISHMENT
THE MILITARY-ESTABLISHED fact-finding committee has concluded that the death of 18-year-old cadet Phakhapong “Meay” Tanyakan was not caused by any punishment.
The committee, however, confirmed that Phakhapong was subject to inappropriate penalties at the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School (AFAPS) during the 48 hours before his death on October 17.
Phakhapong’s family said the probe results did not provide any new insights. Civil-society group Cross-Cultural Foundation said the committee’s work suggested continuing efforts to protect members of military-linked units.

Re: Autopsy shows dead Thai soldier had organs removed
It has now been revealed that there was a cover up to protect the reputation of the army.
Classmate of dead cadet filed with assault charge
5 Feb, 2018
Police said Monday they filed an assault charge against a classmate of a military cadet who died under suspicious circumstances.
The unidentified senior classmate reportedly abused Pakapong Tanyakan in an unsanctioned disciplinary punishment, or thamrong winai, two months before his October death, according to the officer in charge of the investigation. The cadet will be tried in a military court, Col. Pongchak Chaksurak said.
“It was an act of thamrong winai,” Pongchak said, using a military term for what is essentially hazing. “As for his name, I’d like to keep it undisclosed for now, because this is a sensitive case.”
