BRITISH MAN FAILS WITH PARACHUTE FROM 29TH-FLOOR PATTAYA CONDO

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Too many variables to say anything worth saying, but my guess is they were reservists who prolly had little or not enough time doing cold weather training or it's just one of those sea stories floating around. Hard to say anything more other than I personally have never heard of Force Recon Marines quitting anything, ever. Even when the SEALs get lost, they send Force guys to fetch them (rare). I am sure there is more to the story we'll never know.

Apparently this isn’t the first time he’s done this off this building, but it was his last.

Yea I also seen a video where he did it in Jomtien and it worked. To me it looks like on his last attempt the pull line was stuck under his right arm strap, maybe has something to do with it not opening correctly? Idk shit about parachuting so just guessing here.

It absolutely looks like the main cord is tucked "under" his arm strap, right near his waist, instead of being free, giving it no chance to be pulled open. Seems the mini-chute would be connected to the long line, and that would pull the main chute out moments after he jumped from the wind resistance, as it would be connected at the other end. But instead it was trying to pull his main chute UNDER AND THROUGH his right arm strap.

It even seems like he feels it out to check it, so not sure how he wouldn't have realized it was tucked under there.

Doing risky stuff, but with competence and repeated success leads to complacency. It doesn’t matter how good you are. Over confidence boosted by getting it done with less and less margin for error, until the day that one single small error is made.
