Brit dies during surgery by uncertified Thai doctor

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Brit dies during surgery by uncertified Thai doctor

Post by UKJ »

Couldn't fit it in the thread title - Sompob Sansiri, the 51-year-old doctor who performed the surgery, has been arrested and reportedly did not have the proper certification.

It was some sort of cosmetic surgery on her tailbone.

A 24-year-old British woman has died in Thailand during cosmetic surgery performed by a doctor who was allegedly not properly qualified.
Police said the woman - named locally as Joy Williams - stopped breathing while under anaesthetic at a clinic in Bangkok on Thursday.
Miss Williams, from Thamesmead, London, reportedly attended the clinic for surgery on October 14 but was not satisfied with the results and returned for a corrective procedure.
She was said to have attended the clinic for a procedure related to her tailbone and was found with a three inch incision in her lower back.
Sompob Sansiri, the 51-year-old doctor who performed the surgery, has been arrested and reportedly did not have the proper certification.

to be honest... i believe they always publish "doctor was not certified" ... "was no doctor"...

just to keep ppls believe up, that doctors in thailand are qualified...

to not "taint" anything... you know...

the guy was probably totally qualified and certified... but wait.. more to come on this case...

in most cases though, any medical mistakes are blamed onto the victim.
(underlying disease, allergy, old, drugs, drunk...)

Fumy hw the online version is not the same as what was in the paper

"Dr Somppob , a GP , was not quaillified to perform surgery"

"She returned to the clinic on Thursday suffering from bleeding from the area and requested Dr Sompob REMOVE THE BUTTOCK IMPLANTS "

"....after examinations the women was killed by ingesting sleeping medications BEFORE receiving anesthetic"

"....the women died of respiratory and circulatory failure"

The clinic wasn't certified to operate at night, so maybe it was the same with him.

I think they have just edited it, as it says tailbone in the link.
I hope that wasn't a pic of where she got operated on. Doesn't look sterile.

I didn't think buttock implants were popular amongst Brits. We don't usually go for big asses. like Brazilians etc go for.
