Big and Filthy Garbage Mountains on Lovely Islands
Only serious ineptitude and more than a pinch of corruption could achieve this ...

The island of Koh Larn off the eastern city of Pattaya faces a similar problem. According to a recent Pattaya Mail story some five million people a day visit the island who, along with the island’s 2,000 households, generate about 50 tons of trash a day. Accumulated, unprocessed trash on Koh Larn is put at some 30,000 tons.
not sure about the these facts, I seriously doubt Koh Larn has that many folks per day visit. I've seen them take the garbage off of koh larn. they have trash bins they load on a special barge/ferry and take over to patters, seen it happen couple times in 1 day when I visited the island for a day trip.
still, something that's got to be taken care of.
cheers

I guess garbage in Snookyville is small potatoes compared, but the garbage here is still disgusting. The road on victory hill by the new Chinese Casino/Hotel and across the Main street from the park seems to be a big garbage dumping ground. The Chinese patrons at the new hotel must feel right at home.
