Bangkok monk bags six-million lottery win.

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Bangkok monk bags six-million lottery win.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

A Bangkok monk couldn’t help himself this morning when, in his excitement, he announced he had won the Thai lottery.

It was only after boasting he had trousered six-million baht on yesterday’s lottery draw that it was pointed out to him he was supposed to be avoiding, and refrain from, desire.

Instead Phra Prawit Techapalo, of Cheepakhao Temple in Samut Sakhon, admitted he bought many lottery tickets every month.

For merit he said he would spend some of the money buying his mother a house and use the rest to pay for his child’s education. Another desire he was meant to have been free of.
