Australia 60 minutes "the Thai king"

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

The Australian embassy screened the documentary about His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn's time in Australia for the King himself earlier this month.(Facebook: Australian Embassy, Thailand)
The Australian government has produced a documentary showcasing historical footage of the King of Thailand's six-and-a-half years in Australia at boarding school and with the Australian Defence Force.
From marching in parades, to tackling obstacle courses, the 18-minute piece covers His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn's journey from high school student to graduating officer.

It was produced by the Australian embassy in Bangkok, played at a special screening at the embassy for the King and Queen last Monday, then aired on Thai TV over three nights.

"It's sending a very awkward message because we are in the middle of unprecedented calls for monarchy reform and then you see the government of Australia simply behave as if, you know, there is no controversy."
Veteran Thai journalist and political commentator Pravit Rojanaphruk, who has been covering the Bangkok protests and subsequent arrests, said the timing was "unfortunate to put it mildly".

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

How disrespectful, that pathetic stoop
As DFAT's highest rep in Thailand i would have thought he would be flat on his belly and licking the King's boots.

Sorry if i have offended you DFAT - but you have lifelong form all over the world for exactly this.
Spit. Once again, you betray the values of everyday Australians.

NB, Not directed at the foot soldiers in the embassy's and consulates - this kinda shit comes the privileged, high and mighty, out of touch creeps at the top.

The timing couldn't have been worse for such a puff piece. Completely unnecessary at best.
