Air quality in Thailand

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

You don’t need an expensive air quality meter when you can just look out of the window. If we cannot see the skyscrapers in Bangkok, then it is a red flag day and everyone should wear a N95 smog mask. The bottom photo is this morning.

Pattaya - Soi Diana/Buakhao isn't much better at 7pm with all the traffic and drain vapour.

Is strenuous indoor exercise also to be avoided?

I hear burning season in Chiang Mai starts in January and the air quality gets really bad. Will be there soon and will see (or smell).

Usually mid feb/early march for at least 2-3 months up north, BUT they are saying it might start late Jan this year as they have said 20213 was the hottest year on record.
