Accused American paedophile caught in Samui

SURAT THANI: An American man wanted for child sex abuse in his home country has been arrested on Koh Samui.

Jackson Matthew Hall, 26, was apprehended at Nathon pier on the southern tourist island on Friday evening. The Alabama resident had fled to Thailand to escape multiple child sex abuse charges, authorities say.

He is being held in custody at the Koh Samui police station pending his transfer to the Immigration Bureau for extradition to the United States.
Hall is suspected of having fled the US after posting bail, resurfacing as a teacher at a school in Khon Kaen by using a passport in a friend’s name.

His arrest came shortly after the Friends of Women Foundation circulated a widely viewed warning on social media that a suspected American paedophile was hiding in Thailand and posing as an English teacher under a false name.

Pol Capt Therdsak Thawatvorakul, deputy inspector at the Surat Thani immigration office, said the US embassy had alerted the Immigration Bureau that Hall had entered Thailand using a stolen passport, Khaosod Online reported.

On Friday evening, police received a tip-off that a foreigner who resembled the suspect was spotted at the pier. Officers rushed to the pier and asked to check the man’s passport, said Pol Capt Thersak.
However, the suspect could not produce his passport. He was later taken to the Koh Samui station for questioning...

Backstory:

Hall was indicted in November 2014 in Cullman County on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy, the Times said. Those charges stem from the alleged sexual assault of his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter.
His bond on those charges was revoked in April 2015 after he was accused of exposing himself to a delivery woman in Morgan County, the newspaper reported.
Hall was out of jail the following June when he was indicted in Madison County on an aggravated child abuse charge for allegedly hitting a child, the Times reported.

Reading various versions of this story this morning, it was mentioned that this guy faked his death and then assumed the identity of Tyler Durden Smith (?). However, I didn't see any details about how he pulled that off.

Anybody manage to get that part of the story straight yet?

Hall's friend Tyler Doran Smith allegedly helped him to get a passport under his name and assisted the escape to Thailand.

He entered Thailand on a passport in the name of a friend after conniving with that person and his own relatives to escape justice in the US.
After serving time, he [Jack Hall] was arrested again in Alabama in 2015 on charges of rape and sodomy of a five year old child and was bailed in the sum of 50,000 US dollars, said Darron. These latter details were confirmed in US news reports at the time available online.

Hall then took on the identity of his friend Tyler and secured a passport in Tyler’s name before fleeing to Thailand where he met Neung. Her sister Jamjit – or Maew -, 37, speaking to Thaivisa from Orebro in Sweden, said the couple met in Bangkok.

US Pedophile Suspect Arrested In Koh Samui

The American pedophile Jackson Hall, 24, has been arrested after he fled Bangkok to Koh Samui.

Hall – wanted in the US on a string of charges and who had been hiding out in Thailand for nearly a year – was apprehended at the port of Nathorn last night at 8pm on the holiday island.

A convicted felon Hall is wanted in Alabama for the rape of a 6 year old boy, other sexual molestation charges, giving false information to get a passport and identity theft.
He is believed to have stolen the identity of a man called Tyler Doran Smith – he had entered Thailand last October 6th at Aranyaprathet, Sa Kaew province using that name.
It is understood that he had English teaching jobs in both Khon Kaen and Rayong...

Using the passport of a friend in Alabama Tyler Doran Smith Jackson Matthew Hall even faked his own death to put police and the courts off his trail – and then spent a merry couple of years, when not in the flesh trade areas of Cambodia and Thailand – following a teaching career!

My congratulations to the Thai and US authorities are however qualified by the fact that most of the detective work was in fact carried out by Darron Beetge, a South African national, whom I am glad to say has been able to get his young son by his Thai mother out of Thailand to a school in South Africa where says Darron he has adapted superbly.

Darron made some enquiries in the USA and established that he was not Tyler Doran Smith, but Jackson Matthew Hall.
