YouTube stops playing videos for people with ad blockers in new trial
I hate ads: if i want something, i will look for it, dont need someone trying to sell me something i dont want and disturbing my web page viewing>
I use ad aware and ad block
Now going to have to find a workaround it seems but I sure as fuck will not pay £11.99 a month

Marketers may see an increase in reach for their YouTube campaigns as more people are pushed into turning off their ad blocker settings.

YouTube is disabling videos for people using ad blockers as part of a new trial.
The social media platform is asking users to either turn ad blockers off or pay £11.99 a month for YouTube Premium if they want access to its extensive video library.
..............
How it works. Right now, the trial is being tested on a small group of people around the world that have ad blockers enabled. When they sign in to watch content, all videos will be blocked unless they either change their settings to disallow ad blocker or they sign up for YouTube Premium.\
What has YouTube said? Oluwa Falodun, a spokesperson for Google, told The Verge in a statement:
**"Ad blocker detection is not new, and other publishers regularly ask viewers to disable ad blockers."
"**We take disabling playback very seriously, and will only disable playback if viewers ignore repeated requests to allow ads on YouTube."
*"In cases when viewers feel they have been falsely flagged as using an ad blocker, they can share this feedback by clicking on the link in the prompt."
*“We want to inform viewers that ad blockers violate YouTube’s Terms of Service, and make it easier for them to allow ads on YouTube or try YouTube Premium for an ad free experience,”

It's a good thing that you use DuckDuckGo for search. Google search results have turned into a supermarket so Google can make the money that bloggers used to be able to make. Now it's difficult for monetized blogs to rank well on Google.
It's no surprise that the Google-owned Youtube is going to try to force ads on everyone. We'll just have to find alternatives and tell Google to go fek themselves.

Easy fix. Change to the Brave browser. No ads on Youtube. In fact, no ads or trackers unless you allow them for certain sites.pissontheroof wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 11:54 pmIt’s god dammed annoying as hell , I got a little kid addicted to you tube and the goddam ads are never ending and shit !Username Taken wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2023 6:43 pm It's a good thing that you use DuckDuckGo for search. It's free and worth a try.

Brave is good. I might switch back to it from DDG.Username Taken wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 4:27 amEasy fix. Change to the Brave browser. No ads on Youtube. Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

How do you do that on multiple iPads ?
Re: YouTube stops playing videos for people with ad blockers in new trial
First of all, I don't like ads. However, nothing in life is free. So either you pay money for content (and don't get ads), or you pay lifetime (by watching ads) for it. Price aside, they leave you a choice, so I think there is nothing wrong with that. Beside that, using an add blocker is a clear breach of their T&C
Driving on Cambodian roads is just like playing a classic arcade top scroller. The only difference is a force feedback controller, the limitation to only one life and the inability to restart, once Game Over

I also use ad-blockers. I used Brave for a while but switched to Microsoft Edge (I know, I know... but I find the built-in AI-powered Bing search feature very useful, plus it's actually not as bad a browser as people make out. It has some very unique features that other browsers don't) - it's Chromium based so you can use any Chrome extension on it.
Thing is, I mostly watch YouTube on my TV, which as far as I know, you can't install ad-blockers on, so I've kinda got used to ads on YouTube now, but they are an immense pain in the ass. Especially when they don't actually have an ad to show you, and you end up looking at a blank screen for ages with no option to skip or anything.
Google never used to operate in Cambodia and we never had ads at all on YouTube until about a year ago. All we need now is some kind of spat between the PM and Google so he bans it, like he threatened to do with Facebook, and we'd be back to no ads on YouTube again.
