What TV package to get

Post by Doc67 »

Hello Techies...

I have internet with Openet. I have a box that does nothing (see pic) I have Netflix and I download movies from Pirate bay. That's it.

I want a TV package that give me a few news channel CNN and BBC Worldwide would be good, plus a few channels of things like history channel, Nat Geo etc.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a basic package or what packages are available. And who these companies are; I really have no clue whatsoever.

I would also like to watch the cricket at home but the websites that offer free access are all crap. Any suggestions for 'boxes' or plug-in thingy's that do all this? I am technically challenged so please keep it simple.

As always, many thanks in advance...

Have you tried plugging your TV's antenna port directly into the wall antenna/cable plug and scanning for analogue channels? It might already be active.

I recommend SingMeng who offer a pretty good package of channels plus internet for around $25 per month. They have their own fibre-optic network and usually have some promotional offers such as free installation or a month free if you sign up for a year. I had them for 2 years and almost never had dropouts. One advantage is that the TV and the internet come on separate bandwidth so do affect each other. I dont know where they are in Phnom Penh but their office is on Highway 6 in Siem Reap.

There is no TV Antenna in the wall. The place was refurbed and one wasn't installed. I need to renew my Opennet contract this month so I might ask them what they offer.

Assumed there was because that PPCTV box would probably need to connect to either cable, satellite dish or an antenna.

Hey! Free book man! I should of just asked you. I have a few questions:

Where do I buy an android box and roughly how much ? Will it plug into a Samsung tv? Does it then hook up to my internet wifi? Is it easy to install?

I have Mobdro on my Samsung phone but it is a bit erratic for the cricket. I have used a 'dongle' thing in the UK before with varying success, is it the same principle?

Many thanks...

I've been reading a thread about Android boxes in which you were very active. My internet speed is about 10mbs download and the upload is frequently less the 1mbs. Will an android box work with those speeds?

cant really tell ya, u need try and see if the speeds are good enough. Load Mobdro on ur laptop and see if it works.
if so, you can just cable ur laptop to ur tv via a hdmi cable.

I use this box, https://www.lazada.co.th/products/mx9-p ... 1&search=1
Not sure if Lazada ships to Cambodia

The Android box cables to ur tv via a hdmi cable, or wireless ( works faster with usb cable from ur internet box) than in set up, configure it to find ur internet and enter ur user name and password

There hundreds of videos on you tube about android box's, kodi and such

Good luck

In addition to Phuket's suggestions, you could also try to download Redbox TV onto your Android device. (redboxtv.xyz)

Alternatively, buy an Amazon Firestick, approx $50-$60, go to YouTube, search how to jailbreak the Firestick and download Redbox on to your Firestick. Plug F/S straight in to your tv, and away you go.

If you want endless supply of movies and box-sets, also download Black Panther app on to a Firestick.
