Unlimited Usenet Account for $20 a Year (Limited Promotion)

Post by General Mackevili »

Real quick, if anyone wants a good Usenet provider for the CHEAPEST price you will ever see, right now NewsHosting (which I believe is a Tier-1 provider for the HighWinds backbone) is on a crazy special for $20 a year for life. You will never see a price this low again, so if you have Usenet or are interested in using it, this is a total steal for an unlimited account.

If you're not familiar with Usenet, you're basically paying to access their servers, where you can download new movies, shows, etc, at the highest speed that your internet connection goes, without the need to mess with torrents. After you get this, you'd also need to get a good (paid) indexer to look for the movies and shows to download. NZBgeek.info is a good one which offers a lifetime subscription for around $30. This deal comes with a 'newsreader with search' but I have no idea how good it is. Main benefit, for me, is that you always get the fastest speed possible on your internet connection, and you don't have to worry about seeding as you do on torrents.

Again, only posting this as it's a total steal for anyone who wants Usenet. I believe it is a promotional price that they are offering to old customers, but the link works for anyone. No idea how long it will last either, but $20 a year is lower than I have ever heard of for an unlimited account, especially on a Tier-1 provider and not on a reseller. I assume most people still use torrents, which are still great if you are on a private tracker, but for me, Usenet is 1000X better in every way, and pretty easy to set up as well.

And just to be clear, this is a lifetime discount, so you can renew it every year for $20. I personally use Tweak News and plan to keep it as well, because they use NTD instead of DMCA to delete things, and I have definitely noticed that files stay online longer for Usenet providers who follow NTD, but NewHosting is still great.

That's a shame. It was live for at least 17 hours. It appears to have been an email campaign to get back old customers, based on the URL, so I guess they realized it was being widely shared. Back up to $12.95 a month. :(

Newsgroup Ninja is usually running a pretty good deal, but not for $20 a year.

I'm still getting targeted on Facebook as well, so it's a different link, but it also still shows the regular $12.95 price when I click, so I don't know what they're doing, as it was working when I first posted this.

Maybe try the Facebook link or the landing page, and also try it in a private browser to get rid of any cookies:

A new link (through one of their resellers) that's working at the moment for the $20 a year, if you're still interested:

I thought Usenet was dead. I used to use it a lot about 7 or 8 years ago, then there was some sort of massive crackdown, in the UK at least, and the biggest site for finding indexed NZB files Newzbin was taken down, swiftly followed by most of the others, who were physically taken down by law enforcement agencies or closed voluntarily, scared of the legal action.

It was by far the best way to download your favorite movies, TV shows and software. So if you're saying it's all come back to life I'll look into it. Thanks.

This points to a usenet provider that was indeed deemed #1 last year in the test by Techradar: https://www.techradar.com/news/the-best ... -providers

The same site did a test on Usenet clients, you will need one like SAB NZB or Get NZB: https://www.techradar.com/news/best-usenet-client

Modern clients even can de-obfuscate filenames such as e6185547cf8af6ca0ad263439f2279fa.01. It can be difficult to find things just using a free search index such as http://nzbindex.nl/ or https://www.binsearch.info/. Paid indexers give you more control and insight, but cost you a minor membership fee.

Here you can have a free overview of 'spots' where users will upload links to nzb files along with some information on the file, sorted by type: https://www.nzbserver.com/
