strong and weak points of mobile service providers

Post by Georgina »

According to the seemingly honest vendor of phones where I have never been led astray...

Beeline: Not good (she does sell though)
Mobitel: Best customer service, but expensive
Smart: Hard to reach anyone on weekends ('busy')
Metphone: Good deal

Comments?

Ideally the service would be...

- fair price (cheap isn't necessarily good value)
- transparent pricing (good luck, everywhere in the world I get these weird complicated plans, so one cannot price compare with competitors
- no ID required (history in Cambodia)
- no expiry (Smart tourist SIMS they give away on planes arriving from Thailand cannot be extended beyond 6 or perhaps 12 months)
- good customer service
- free incoming calls/texts (don't think anyone offers this in Cambodia)
- unlimited data means what is says, not like in Thailand and seemingly everywhere the limit is something unrealistically low, and then beyond that it slows to a crawl.
- Da Boat is full, when maximum number of subscribers are reached no more taken to keep service at high standard
- No spam from the company itself

Or barring this perfect situation, at least good value and long-lasting

For the SMART tourist sim do you need to register with your passport or not?
