Spellchecker

Post by Doc67 »

A few weeks ago I noticed the wiggly red lines that litter my draft post suddenly offered alternatives spellings, including the correct one. Now they have disappeared.

Have I used up my monthly allowance?

Do you have Grammarly installed?

Actually, I'd like to think that your spelling has suddenly improved.

I just tried to make some spelling mistakes, but somehow they were auto-corrected. Ain't technology amazing?

Found Grammarly and installed it. It now hovers in the top right-hand corner of the text box and throbs whilst counting my mistakes. It doesn't auto-correct, I have to click it and decide whether to accept the suggestions and then close the box as it is already trying to sell me the premium product.

I'm not sure I'm going to get along with it!

The spell checker might have been on your browser. Firefox has one.

I'm using Microsoft edge. The spelling suggestions only appeared in CEO text boxes and then disappeared. I was sure it was an improvement to the site and it was useful, but now it is gone.

Because you are identified as English it expects you to know all the spelling so does not question your writing.

There you go! Microsoft users need al the help they can get, no matter how good or useful.

May i suggest you check for "microsoft edge add-ons". Maybe you find a "spell checker add-on" there that has been installed (and later on disabled)
