4G Phone compatability

Post by Doc67 »

Hey Techies...

I got a message from smart on my phone saying something about making sure your phone is set up for 4G. I googled how to do this and found the network mode section to discover this:

Does this mean my old faithful Samsung Galaxy 8 is not capable of 4G?

LTE is 4G, "long term evolution" or some shit.

So yes your phone is 4G, but maybe it's time to get with us cool kids in the 4.5G or maybe even 5G?

Cheers. Good news.

What does 4.5 or 5G do that 4G doesn't?

Flippancy aside, I think your phone may be able to continue working for some time, but you shouldn’t expect the performance that bloggs has on his phone.

Your kit is compatible (supposedly) with the network.

before one had 2 g, 3g, 4g
i could call someone, they could call me
I could send them a message, they could message me
for me, thats all i want a phone to do

also phones were small and one did not need carry an extra bag just to put the phone in :-)
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

It does everything I need it to do and is fast enough.

I bought it second hand for $155 in January 2020 and I intend to get another 2 years out of it at least. :D

My current phone is smaller than my first mobile & that was the GSM era, mid 1990's
