partial youtube clips
partial youtube clips
Is it possible to post only part of a youtube clip on this forum, say if I want a few seconds from the middle of a clip only, and not the beginning or end?

Re: partial youtube clips
You can create a URL for a YouTube clip with a specified starting time, but not and end or loop time - so, sort of.Soi Dog wrote:Is it possible to post only part of a youtube clip on this forum, say if I want a few seconds from the middle of a clip only, and not the beginning or end?
Also, specifying the starting time does not always work (depending on streaming speed) - so no, not really.

I'll take that as a no.StroppyChops wrote: sort of.

It's easy enough to do it on youtube (having the clip start at a certain time, anyway), and view the shortened clip on there...I just can't figure out how to then embed that shortened clip on CEO as oppose to just the link. Is that what is not possible?

Re: partial youtube clips
Possible, but not particularly good. Put &start=0130 (to start at 1 minute 30, for example) after the YouTube code. Post your YouTube URL and I'll show you what I mean. Incidentally, time stamp with three digits is number of seconds, four digits is minutes and seconds. So 130 != 0130.Soi Dog wrote:I'll take that as a no.StroppyChops wrote: sort of.

Doesn't seem like it's working...

Nope, doesn't. Let's blame OD.General Mackevili wrote:Doesn't seem like it's working...
Edit: not so far from the truth, actually - parameter needs to be coded in the background before it will work, so let's continue to blame OD.
Old school coding below, won't work on Tapatalk, how about on a PC?

Re: partial youtube clips
Ok, now THAT worked!
As you said, it didn't work on Tapatalk, but worked on Chrome Android while opening it in the YouTube app.

Re: partial youtube clips
Yeah I can post the link to the video on youtube.com, but not the video itself. It loses its comedic value if someone has to click a link.
