Never updated Windows 7

Post by Luigi »

Am reading all about the fresh ransomware & thought I would check for security updates. Turns out this machine has never been updated. Works 100%. I have 187 updates to install should I choose all.

My previous IT guy was always ofthe mind if it ain't broke do not fuk with it. He hates Microsoft with passion however.

What say you techies here. Update all? Update selected security related only? Leave it alone. Once again I have no issues whatsoeveer. Runs fast & smooth.

FWIW running windows 7 64 bit.

I would update the lot. And after it has updated and restarted and updated again, restart it and search again for updates... lather, rinse and repeat, always repeat. No point in leaving this computer at the mercy of known exploits.

100% agree with timmy there. Update the lot, restart, check for more updates, etc. on and on until there are no more.

But take a backup copy of all your important stuff before you start.

Richard, it doesn't matter if it's a cracked copy. Is it Activated? If 'yes', then it should be fine.

What I hate about MS most is "to complete the update your computer must be restarted" - but they conveniently fail to mention that after it restarts it'll take an hour or longer to implement said updates before you can actually start using it again.

A couple of hours?? With no previous updates, this could take a day.
