Made the switch

Post by Jacobincambodia »

For all you Android lovers out there, you might be happy to know that I made the switch from ios to Android this week.

Not a good time to get a positive report from me as I'm still getting my feet wet.

One of the main reason I did it was because of Khmer font. It's simply beautiful on Android. I do like the pen on the Note 4 too.

Advice, tutorials, etc. Please send my way!

Congratulations! You escaped the machine! Just don't let the man drag you back! I hope you don't still have a MacBook!!!!! Also, forget about a good smart watch for awhile. Did google show you the secret droid handshake yet? It's digital. Freedom feels wonderful, doesn't it?! :dm:

Note 4? Good man!

In other news.... Samsung just announced that the new Note 5 release date has been delayed from July to September.

I am using iPhone and I do love iOS. Khmer font is pretty fine with iOS. I have no desire to use Android. :)

Thanks! Yes I still have a mac book. I'm a formal PC guy and will never go back. I love it. No guarantees about going back to the iPhone but I'm loving my Note 4 more and more everyday.

I love the iPhone as well. But there is plenty wrong with the Khmer font with iOS. The font isn't the same size as the rest and it has issues with the 3rd level of the script with vowels and some jung.

You might be right. I have khmer font on my phone, but i don't use it quite often. I don't like texting in khmer. :)

Yeah, I actually do now! Not for drawing, but for photo and video stuff, mainly.

It actually has a lot of VERY useful features that pop up when you use it.

Mainly for cut and paste. It manages to cut most text that you couldn't normally highlight and cut with your finger. I use Google Translate a lot, and it's great for cutting Khmer script off anything I can read.

The hover feature is also amazing. You can hover over menus/options and it shows you stuff without having to click them (and you avoid having to go "back" that way).

I think I'm slightly faster on my Swype keyboard with my fingers, but not by much.

It's a learning curve, and to get used to it, I forced myself to use it for a few days straight, and once I was over the learning curve it's been smooth sailing.

The Note 4 is leaps and bounds ahead of any other phone I've had, by far.

That said, the iPhone 6+ is probably second. Hell, if Apple was kind enough to give me all the same apps I've paid for over the years, I might just make the jump. Image Image

That's interesting. Does it come down to an app decision?

Seems like it, as the functions don't always work exactly the same. Lots of apps use it though.
