If locked, your phone should only work with a Metfone SIM card. Maybe it's been unlocked already by the previous owner. Borrow someones SIM from another phone company and see if it works in your phone.

I suspect if you are using Metphone that it is unlocked anyway, unless you bought the phone from them?

Also, heaps of options in Ballina/Byron Bay - no shortage of good pubs/drinking holes/restaurants. There are also a couple of good breweries as well - Stone and Wood is great!
There will be no problem with coverage using any phone company there BTW!

The phone is a metfone I bought from them.(says metfone on the front) Its so old and cheap the girls won't even steal it, but it works and I don't need much.
