Hey Jerry, I don't think Australia was particularly concerned about Apples bottom line when making its monumental decision that entailed very real billion dollar costs to Australian biz and government - and irrevocably deepened China's hostility towards their very exposed nation.
You trust Huawei but you don't like Five Eyes?????
I don't like surveillance either. In fact, as a basic operating principle i don't like any intelligence agency very much at all.
I am one of those that think gentlemen should not read other gentlemen's mail.
Just the same as as i hate guns and militarianism generally.

just thought it was worth the discussion, 'dont really want to get into electronic warfare with you blokes

No I like Huawei but I don't trust Five Eyes BS
They make high quality affordable and reliable devices
The current Huawei/google embargo is a result of industry lobbying and influencing political of leaders in the "west" - and is of no concern to a casual user like myself

Maybe we should boycott this Huawei phone.
Wasn't buying cheap, best bang for your buck products from the authoritarian state that contributed to the situation we now find ourselves in? Aka contending with their increasingly assertive and aggressive ambitions around the world?
