Good Android-app: Khmer - English
Can someone recommend a good Android-app for Khmer - English (and visa verce) translation? Rather for practicing a bit than for using on the streets.

I use Google Translate a lot.
It also gives you the phonetic spelling of Khmer words, but that part is next to worthless.
Not an "app," but a very helpful site with an English-Khmer dictionary that even plays the sounds:
http://kheng.info/word_segmentation/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The side really looks good and should be fine for practicing a bit until I found a proper Khmer teacher.
Thanks for that, appreciate it!

What do I need to install on Android to display Khmer script, please?General Mackevili wrote:Not an "app," but a very helpful site with an English-Khmer dictionary that even plays the sounds:

On that homepage, under where it says, "Copy the sample text below to try it:" I just see lots of squares.
Thanks.

At the very least you need a Khmer unicode font installed. How you do that depends a lot on your phone/tablet and the Android version it's running. Google it! You might need to root your device first.
Even after you get a font installed you might see some stuff displayed wrong. Contrary to what you might expect from a name like "unicode" there are actually multiple varieties of unicode and at least 2 Khmer unicode fonts. If yours isn't exactly the same one used by the content creator you might not see what they intended.

Install Google translate and it should install a Khmer unicode font along with it.
