Chat GPT signing up issue

I finally tried to register and play with it and found that it wouldn't allow me in because of my Cambodian phone number. It says it "has detected suspicious activity with phone number similar to yours..." which I assume means Cambodian numbers.

I tried again a couple of time and now my number is specifically blocked for for 24 hours for "too many attempts."

I tried to register with my Google account but it still gets to the phone number stage and then the shutters come down again. Using a VPN doesn't work as they just ask for a phone number in the country you are pretending to be in.

Has anyone else had any issues along these lines? Any suggestions?

You will need a mobile number from a no blacklisted country and a VPN. Esims or virtual numbers do not work.

There are a few options that exist that don't require you to actually log into ChatGPT.

1: MS Edge browsers Co-Pilot feature.
2: Google Bard (G. Account obviously)
3: Opera Aria. It won't allow you to use it from Cambodia BUT there is a very simple work-a-round as Opera has a built in VPN. Simply activate the VPN, refresh any webpage then goto Aria in the sidebar and it will work.

I actually used MSEdge AI function to find answers and it gave me a few options. One said you can use Dingtone to get a spoof number so I tried that, but it is just another subscription service - that got uninstalled as soon as I found that out.

Is there any reason to bother to sign up for it or just use the MSEdge one?

Use a UK phone you can have a code sent to and its easy

I use all 3 that I listed above and often use them on the same question. They all have their own restrictions built in that can limit their usefulness. A few days ago I asked all 3 to write a satirical piece of code to be used for fun and due to the subject of the satire 2 of the above LLMs refused to even attempt it... built in restrictions at work. One did complete the task though.
Until an unrestricted option is available I see no reason or difference between ChatGPT and the rest. Well, not for everyday use at any rate.

Adding the following as supplemental information that may be of interest to some.

ChatGPT's API is costed separately to the web interface that most people pay for. It's $0.002 per 1000 tokens (roughly 750 words).

I suggest just using https://bard.google.com - ChatGPT is yesterday's news & a pain in the butt in the KoW.

You definitely need a phone number from a supported country - and a VPN whenever you use it. I find the latter really annoying. Even after I signed up for an account from elsewhere (Thailand in my case), whenever I'm in Cambodia, it won't let me log in unless I'm using a VPN.

1) EU phone number
2) EU credit card (ABA credit cart is always decline)
3) EU VPN

This is what i used to get access to GPT 4. U need switch to VPN just to login/signup and then can use for few weeks without VPN.
As for me all other alternatives are not as good as GPT 4
