Re: Best Android Phone
The difference is that it's efficient. I have no issues with my battery life. A whole day with normal usage is no problem.

"The revolution did more than legally create the United States; it transformed American society... Far from remaining monarchical, hierarchy-ridden subjects on the margin of civilization, Americans had become, almost overnight, the most liberal, the most democratic, the most commercial minded, and the most modern people in the world." - Gordon S. Re: Best Android Phone
Mm. Notice how Apple make it very difficult to compare, well, apples to apples? "Super Retina HD frameless with True Tone" is meaningless babble, as is "A11 Bionic" - in-house made up jargon that sounds pretty, but is meaningless. Ignore those buzzwords (because you should) and compare on everything else, including the actual screen resolution, number of cores, and charge power, and iPhone X just can't justify the price. Sure, it's nice and dreamy and stuff, but "dreaminess" is a fanboi quality (I made that up, don't blame it on Jacob) that can't be measured. To me, if you "need" to spend so much more on a consumer gadget, you're just buying a more expensive golden calf or you're a FOMO sheep.
I bought a Singtech phone a year ago that was already out of date, and outperformed the newest iPhone in every technical specification. I broke it by sitting on it, and bought a newer but still outdated model, which still outperforms the iPhone on tech specs. If the Apple product glides and slides better or just "feels right" then great, but to me price to performance is critical, and part of performance is my desire to add and remove the apps I want, and to customise the UI how I want. I'd buy an iPhone for my mother, who doesn't have the skills for a full on smart phone and needs to be nannied with techology, but while I'm still able to think for myself, I'm gonna think for myself.
Harumph. I think that's out of my system now.

Actually I have a lot of respect for the products, but I liken their brand to a cult in oh so many ways.
I was around when Apple and Microsoft were actually competing for market-share, and software was being developed for one platform or the other (e.g. Photoshop was written for Macintosh, and then reluctantly ported to Windows) and Apple's promotion has NEVER been based on real-world actual better technology. It's been consumer-ego-driven since day dot, and for that they have my respect. Their earlier advertising was based around the premise that "most people are dumb and don't understand just how significantly better, and therefore more expensive, our products are, but you do, you are SMART, and we know that, so you'll buy our product. Because you're SMART."
I'm going to start soapboxing on this and how Apple positioned itself almost exclusively through university students via ignorant academics, so I'll stop.

Absolutely can't work out what you did with the quote tags there, but this is my best effort (well, it's an effort) at fixing it.StroppyChops wrote:Harumph. I think that's out of my system now.Actually I have a lot of respect for the products, but I liken their brand to a cult in oh so many ways.

Okay, so you have a mud hut with a single room, and everything you own is on the shelves in front of you. You can't change the shelves, or the hut for that matter, but all your stuff if right there, at your finger tips, and you just need to reach out and grab any of your stuff when you want to play with it. It's a round hut, so you can spin around and see your other stuff. Even my mother could survive in this hut, with all her stuff right there.
Android is not a single-room hut.
