Stay away from Huawei products - the Chinese government has forced the manufacturer to build in security backdoors into their technology. Don't take my word for it, Google it.

And you think the US government doesn't do likewise?StroppyChops wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:19 pmStay away from Huawei products - the Chinese government has forced the manufacturer to build in security backdoors into their technology. Don't take my word for it, Google it.

Re: Best Android Phone
I don't, actually, because while the Chinese are intelligent enough to reverse engineer the firmware and check this for themselves, they wouldn't, and they certainly wouldn't speak about it if they did.Username Taken wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:34 pmAnd you think the US government doesn't do likewise?StroppyChops wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:19 pmStay away from Huawei products - the Chinese government has forced the manufacturer to build in security backdoors into their technology. The US government doesn't need hardware back-doors. It's runs Android, so Google, and therefore the US government, has every action and property recorded anyway.StroppyChops wrote:I don't, actually, because while the Chinese are intelligent enough to reverse engineer the firmware and check this for themselves, they wouldn't, and they certainly wouldn't speak about it if they did.Username Taken wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:34 pmAnd you think the US government doesn't do likewise?StroppyChops wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:19 pmStay away from Huawei products - the Chinese government has forced the manufacturer to build in security backdoors into their technology. Well first I had to google your claim as your didn't provide a source, and in the top results:StroppyChops wrote:Source?epidemiks wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 10:01 pmThe US government doesn't need hardware back-doors. All the big tech firms hand data to the US government. It's not a secret. Amazon built and maintain massive CIA data centres and most of Amazon's most important data centres are dotted around spy country Virginia. Section 702 of FISA was extended early this year https://www.eff.org/702-spyingThe problem: nobody has provided a shred of hard evidence that the company has done anything wrong, raising the question of whether this is glorified protectionism hiding behind the banner of national security.
Google says they don't give anything besides what is ordered by a court, but it's not in their interest to say otherwise. Yahoo built a back-door for the US government on their email service, and admitted as much, and we know where yahoo is now.

That's good data, but actually doesn't speak to your comment:epidemiks wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 10:32 pmWell first I had to google your claim as your didn't provide a source, and in the top results:StroppyChops wrote:Source?epidemiks wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 10:01 pmThe US government doesn't need hardware back-doors. I wasn't look for an argument, I was genuinely curious about the veracity of your claim. Your data speaks to enforced data requests and the percentage of those requests that are yielded. That's a little different to the US government "running" Android and Google (Yahoo seems to be an irrelevance in this discussion), and recording everything. And when you're looking at 17 thousand requests of FB (for argument's sake) against how many American FB accounts, that's a very small percentage. The US government doesn't need hardware back-doors. It's runs Android, so Google, and therefore the US government, has every action and property recorded anyway.
Anyhoo...

Wasn't trying to argue - you just made a claim that was equally spurious and as easily debunked as mine. I just fished for some data that supported my claim.StroppyChops wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 11:21 pmThat's good data, but actually doesn't speak to your comment:epidemiks wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 10:32 pmWell first I had to google your claim as your didn't provide a source, and in the top results:StroppyChops wrote:Source?epidemiks wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 10:01 pmThe US government doesn't need hardware back-doors. Yahoo is entirely relevant imo: they were one of the biggest data companies in the world, and willingly built in a software back door for the US government at their request which is identical to your claim the Chinese government asked hardware manufacturers to install hardware back doors.
702 is part of the PRISM surveillance program and is entirely aimed at 'allowing' US intelligence to spy on foreign nationals at will, which had previously required presidential sign off.
Regardless, I have no doubt that various governments around the world have far more access to our data than we are led to believe.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
