Re: BBC iPlayer
You guys are lucky... I couldn't get the VPNs to work... EVER. Although I've never struggled so much as when I was in China where I couldn't access tinder. Grim.
Re: BBC iPlayer
I use IPVanish very good services
Re: BBC iPlayer
I use Astrill VPN Client. You can download the app and it works amazingly well for BBC IPlayer, SkyGo, Netflix etc. It also works with an apple TV but not a chromcast as that has a hardwired DNS server.
Well worth the money

Re: BBC iPlayer
Astrill still has not fixed the BBC iPlayer problem (they only have 8 servers in the UK... and BBC 'knows' them) and their price gone up from $69.95 to S99.95 per year.
I did a lot of research on VPNs and decided to try NordVPN because it has 307 servers in the UK. It works beautifully and is approximately half the price (or less) of Astrill (it depends how long you sign up for) and they have a 30-day money back guarantee.
I won't be renewing my subscription to Astrill when it expires in two months. Fuck 'em!

Re: BBC iPlayer
I don't know I've tried those mentioned before, and nordvpn seems most decent, keeps updating their services, as well as numbers of servers. There is always a free server which helps not to lose speeds. Since most clients are using vpn for streaming so, they are continually working with servers to keep users happy. I was recommending it to my friends, so it is worth it.

Re: BBC iPlayer
Re: NordVPN. I posted too soon. It DOESN'T work well at all (at least from China).
I can access BBC iPlayer (usually, but may times it will stop because there is not enough bandwidth) when connected to a couple of their servers in the UK. However, when I go to another country, there are problems connecting with many servers... and when it does connect, The Great Firewall of China is blocking: Google, YouTube, FB (I don't use) etc.
I've spent many, many hours over the last seven days 'tweaking' the computer (I hope I can undo it all) and have 37 emails back and forth with Nord's customer service reps trying to get it to work. It doesn't. I was better off with Astrill.
They say I will get my money back in 7-10 working days depending on my bank.

Re: BBC iPlayer
This pisses me off to hear. I've been debating taking up their current offer of $99 for 3 years, as a lot of (paid) blogs say it's one of the best for Netflix/Hulu. Dammit.Cruisemonkey wrote:Re: NordVPN. I posted too soon. It DOESN'T work well at all (at least from China).

Re: BBC iPlayer
NordVPN might be OK if you're not in China.
My VPN 'saga' get stranger -
I loaded Astrill back on the computer and restarted it. It did 'weird things' and my ISP connected to the internet... then dropped the connection. Astrill gave me a message it would only work in Explorer or Firefox (I'm using Chrome) and told me to change to other ports. I left Astrill alone, reverted all the connection adapter settings I've made over the last week trying to get Nord to work, uninstalled Nord... and all the OpenVPN crap Nord told me to install. I restarted the computer, the ISP connected to 'internet access'... and Astrill connected. I chose Astrill's United Kingdom 1 server... and BBC iPlayer works like hot damn - superb resolution and no 'buffering' or stopping because there's not enough bandwidth!
I just hope it continues... fingers crossed.

teatimetv.to
Anyone tried to use today. I have been using it to watch MOTD in the mornings but it now seems to be a paid for service. When did this happen & is everyone seeing the same?
