Alternatives to Faronics “Deep Freeze”

Post by Francis »

For years now I’m running on my machines a security software called “Deep Freeze”. Deep Freeze locks down your computer and prevents people from installing software or making changes to the operating system. I have always been very happy with that software but recently some Chinese malware managed to penetrate the system (somehow they found a workaround and the malware writes directly into the kernel – quite nasty). Faronics of course denies that this is possible. So I’m looking for alternatives and perhaps somebody here can give me some advice.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

Don't know what you mean. I got the fully licensed Deep Freeze standard edition and of course I have admin rights.

Then you can set a password to stop any alterations without Deep freeze, that is Ice Age stuff, really dated now.

In fact, I only remember one guy...nah, forget it.

Never tried this, so you can be the guinea pig Francis.

Reboot Restore Rx (similar to Deep Freeze), and it's free. http://www.horizondatasys.com/en/produc ... 8#Features
Similar, but I don't think it's free - Rollback Rx PC. http://www.horizondatasys.com/en/produc ... 1#Features

Hey, Is that really true?

I'm using Deep Freeze Standard from last 7-8 years. I recommend it several times.

But I never faced such kind of issue. Could you please share more details about it? I'm very excited to know.

Were you connect with their support team regarding this issue? They help me a lot whenever I face any issue.

Thanks,

Yeah... I'm with you on this. Why not just use a non admin account?
