Watched the ladies british open last week on TV and it was great to see Mo Martin, a somewhat rank outsider win it with a spectacular eagle at the last. Her reaction to it all was refreshing, genuine surprise, excitement, happiness was there to see. A truly career changing moment.

I always like the romantic story of the underdog triumphing in sport so it would be good to see someone new come through and lift the title rather than the same old faces. Blow wind blow !

I'm hoping for a great Open not a good one - sure, if one of the young guns can play like Tiger in the 97 Masters and win that would be great. Failing that, lets hope that it will play tough enough to find a worthy winner - I've no doubt it will.

Bit boring yesterday with the perfect conditions but it was forecast to be tougher today.

Yeah, but it was still interesting to see the ones who faltered in benign conditions. Looks breezy today so the afternoon field may cop it a bit.

I suppose because nobody has considered Tiger a serious contender he'll actually respond to that, as he did yesterday. If he can post a score today it will get tongues wagging.

Looks like the Rory show now he's got the Friday monkey off his back. Still a bloody good field behind him. Love day three - bring it on.

Tremendous round by Rory but an even better one by Johnson, no dropped shots he could be a danger man with his distance. The others were inconsistent and although 4-6 shots in a major is nothing especially links golf, a couple of sub 70's will make McIlroy difficult to beat.
Should be a great leading 2 ball today.

Rory's to lose now. He knows how to close out so unless someone shoots the lights out it looks likely he'll win.
