Of course. But it seems some of them forgot that. You run in the mountains with bad weather forecast, you carry gear and do not send your jacket to a drop-off 70 kilometres in. I lived in the Swiss Alps for a few years and when hiking/running, you prepare for the worst. I was supposed to run in Da Lat last year but the weather was atrocious. Organisers and runners went ahead and a guy died.

Sad that there were so many deaths on this run because organisers wanted to go ahead despite weather warnings.

As I said: I will wait for the official investigation. But yes, there is a lot of pressure on race organisers to go ahead, especially with all the postponements the last year. Not necessarily about the money, but you’ve called up all the volunteers, paid the cops and authorities, got a bunch of people eager to run. Difficult to step back and rethink it.

What a bizarre story.
I come from a place and time where BE PREPARED was the common mindset.
You did not blame the government or weather forecast.
You prepared for worst case scenario.
But, I grew up where climate change was a daily or weekly event...
People take 0 responsibility these days.
I suspect these were educated and financially well off people.
A local poor chap would of survived...been prepared..

This story gave me flashbacks to my old PE teacher forcing us to play foopball in freezing hail in our shorts, Shirts vs Skins... if you’re cold you’re not running fast enough, nerdlinger...

Would love to have sent that ginger twat on this run and told him to run faster

Toughened up rain and mud playing rugby league in NZ half way through the game you couldn't tell who was playing who with the jerseys so muddy. And you couldn't wait for a scrum to pack get warm. Bad luck for the backs. Are the good old days
I'm standing up, so I must be straight.
